TomTom (Tele Atlas) and Here (Navteq) offline vector maps support

There is already an option to buy offline vector map with Mapsforge OSM data as an in-app purchase in Locus. That will be a great advantage to have an option to buy a vector map with TomTom or Here data. Both of these companies are the major professional worldwide map providers. And they still have more official information than OSM has, especially about addresses and roads. Additionally using of TomTom and Here maps can give a way to get offline search (address and POI) and offline routing (pedestrian, bike and car).

Hi,

Both companies that you mentioned use own system for rendering or reading map data. TomTom provide for external developer only online access to their mapping system. Here has quite powerful system for developers but it's not possible to implement it into Locus. So sorry but at this moment it is not possible to use their maps/data

What about Sygic that use both TomTom (for regular) and Here (for Truck version) data for it's offline navigation software? What about NLife do the same for different countries (TomTom for some and Here for others)? MapFactor offers offline TomTom maps additionally to OSM and TwoNav does it complementary to topo data. GeoNET sells Here and own format maps additionally to OSM. So I believe if you want you can handle both providers offline. But if you do not consider the implementation as a commercially reasonable development, Ok, it's your choice.

Hi

honestly we've never been deeply thinking about professional maps. So I only quickly check the possibilities when we've received your request. I've found that TomTom has some Android SDK which looks unfortunately quite limited. http://developer.tomtom.com/products/android_sdk

So I'll add to my TODO list to find out more information about professional map data. On the other hand I'm worry about technical complication but this is another story :)

If you want to learn it quickly you do not need to search this information. I believe the right way is email both and ask for conditions. Just because you are not an alone teenager planning to conquer market with the future app. You already made industry noticeable product and may be interested as a sale platform for them.

I only didn't express correctly - one question are conditions and terms of use but there is second issue focused on technical possibilities which was in my attention.
