Multiple waypoint navigation?

I might be missing it but is there a way to navigate to multiple waypoints? I saw one person was suggesting that Locus automatically optimize a route but there is an online app that will do that for me and allow me to export the waypoints as a gpx. What I need is to be able to route navigation from waypoint 1 to waypoint 2 then waypoint 3, etc. in the order they are listed in the folder. I know I can do this manually as separate tracks and then merge those tracks into one but that is far too much work to do when I have 20 or 30 points. Can't Locus do this for me? It does everything else :-)

  1. I saw one person: where and who ? link ?
  2. there is an online app: what app ? link ?

Maybe consider Mapfactor Navigator. It is the best app I have found for muti point navigation, which is quite important to me as a touring cyclist.

Something like this could be combined with the existing "Route and measure" feature of Locus. Instead of creating temporary no-name points which are connected by route segments, Locus could use waypoints which are kept in order to allow (partial) route recalculations when the user decides to deviate from the original track (during navigation), uses a different routing algorithm (during preparation of the navigation track) (... ?).

Just another feature which can be provided with the use of the functionality "waypoints as part of a track" http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/is-there-a-list-of-waypoints-in-a-track

Now I get more and more involved with Locus, I read more and more isolated but related topics all around the subject of creating routes/ tracks/ adding waypoints etc. etc.

To Charles - you say you don't need to "automatically optimize a route but there is an online app that will do that" - but remember a big strength of Locus is the offline maps - this is often important when there is no internet available, and therefore for Locus to "automatically optimize a route" offline is important too!

It's been 40 years that I hear about the Travelling Salesman Problem, and I never could lay my hands on a solution. According to the description, Mapfactor Navigator is not a solution.

The TSP seems to me way above the capabilities of Locus.

Can someone endorse a TSM app ? It should also have a Windows version for reasons of practicality.

Here is a way how to get at least some gpx file for an optimized route between multiple points:

Phillippe - a number of competing offline GPS apps support TSP, including as I said MFN.

berkley - the online routing service http://www.my-roundtrip.de/en/ doesn't help if the phone/ app is offline.

I would be really happy about the multiple waypoint navigation too :)

Yes this would be handy.. put 20 waypoints in a new folder..sort the order and then locus make a route: navigation or guidance in that specific order

Indeed actually guiding form waypoint to next waypoint is not availabe in Locus. (15 votes)

Or Locus also could create a direct route (rte) or track (trk) from a well ordered waypoint list.

So a convert or during planning on the pc, in Basecamp or by using JavawaRTWtool. Wpt into track or direct route.

Convert the well ordered waypoints into direct route(rte) or track (trk) with line of sight connecting lines between the points. Then import into Locus and select STRICT guiding.
