ETA displayed under the line from current position to screen centre

Hi Locus Team !

Request for you ... :)

Actually it is possible to have a time to destination under the line when a destination is selected.

It is also possible to display distance, degrees, time and distance circles like on this screenshot :

0cbe077047b37103e29283d4e8d6b4d4

Should it be possible to have the option to add the precise ETA without selecting a destination but just when you move the screen center away from you current position ? Something like that :

0cde1f019b21e716eb73f43bea0079dc

What for ?

. Useful on long distance (more precise ETA then circles)

. Request from pilots. Garmin devices display that, and they find this useful to work with (Example : fast way for giving precise ETA) .

Additionally :

. An option to have the choice between "time to destination" or ETA

Many thanks in advance !

Cheers !

Fifi

Good day Fifi,

this option is already possible. I'm not sure if you know "config.cfg" file. If not, please check this manual: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:config

In your case, parameters:

map_items_line_to_gps_value_above

map_items_line_to_gps_value_below

Possible values are in header of file, anyway for ETA it is value '3'. Time value is not implemented.

Hey, good morning Menion !

Tks for your answer. I check that and let you know.

Value changed to 3 --> display time to go. Good.

Am i wrong or these values are not documented yet ?

About ETA, maybe i'm wrong, but for me ETA means hour of arrival, 3:13 PM or 15:13. So, for me value 3 displays time to go to the arrival and not ETA.

Questions :

1. Do you think it could be possible to have the 3 values around the line : distance, time/ETA, azimuth

2. Do you think it could be possible to implement the ETA (i mean hour of arrival)

Tk you again,

Hmm it looks like you are the first, who use it.

Thanks for test ...

1. sorry, I believe two values will be enough.

1. oki, value formatted as 6m:7s ( 15:24 ) will be under number 6

2. thanks, ETA fixed (number 3), "Time to target" added as number 5

And documented ... well whole this config file is as is. Special parameters useful for a few users.

Hello Fifi,

jus testing it and seems to work correctly with latest version. When there is no GPS movement, it' displayed only "--:--" value, otherwise estimated times are visible. Please check if you change correct parameters and if you are moving with your device. Or describe me your "not working" more precisely, thanks.

I also really like this idea. But how to change the config file to get 3 values around the line?

I want distance, degrees and ETA

Hello Menion,

Thanks for your answer.

Could you have a look on these screenshots please ?

On both :

- Big red circle : you will see that the value 6 is not displayed

. Little red circle 2 on the top of screen : hmmm ... could you please explain me why the blue arrow is pointing to the south east there ?

Hello Hans,

I like your idea. It could be great ... :-)

I already asked for that to Menion. Please, have a look to the topic up : http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/eta-displayed-under-the-line-from-current-position-to-screen-center#comment-23053

Unfortunately, having the values distance, degrees and ETA around the line is not implemented (yet ? :-) ) into Locus. You can only have 2 (or "3" but only for value 6 that display "Time to destination" / ETA ) .

Cheers

Wait, little mess here ...

Your second screenshot: line/text in big circle is guidance line - GPS to your target. We were talking here for whole time about GPS line - GPS to map center. This line is also visible on your second screenshot as dotted line and required value is visible there!

Guidance line has it's config in Locus Map settings > guidance, but option "6" is not there. Little inconsistency, agree.

@Hans: three values not planned, sorry.

Ooooups ! Sorry for this mess. Could it be possible to have this 6 value also for the guidance line in next versions ?
