I would like that Locus supports the IGN Maps of France and Spain (http://forum.locusmap.eu/viewtopic.ph...)

Did they have any online maps somewhere? Cannot find any. Also, should be interesting support of QuickChart format directly in Locus? If so, exist somewhere any sample files?

Yes there are online maps. You can use the link of your forum above. In the third post by jusc there is this link http://www.geoportail.fr/5069711/visu...

On the left side enable cartes and disable "photogaphics aerienne".

And zoom in.:)

There exists a tool called topomap by Jbarner. That can create maps for OZIExplorer and OruxMaps, but not for Locus. For testing you can load a small area of corsia that is very fast in lower zoom levels.

The IGN tiles from GeoPortail are really great for France. The quality is a bit JPEGgishly disturbed and they have slight watermarking compared to the original ign maps, but they are still extremely useful and beat OSM hands down in most areas. Unfortunately, I guess geoportail would not appreciate Locus ripping the tiles from their server directly. But you can use the Windows software TopoMap

http://download.cnet.com/TopoMap/3000...

to rip those tiles directly into OruxMaps sqlite format and then hopefully Locus can display them nicely:

Ps, besides France, TopoMap also downloads great maps for Switzerland and Spain.

For download of these tiles directly to locus, this might be helpful, since the author of topomap explains in detail how the tile identifiers are encoded by geoportail.

That explanation is very detailed indeed, I havent seen them before. It would be a piece of cake for Locus to support the best maps available for France, Spain and Switzerland online out of the box now. Only if menion doesnt fear the wrath of the tile server providers though :)

Hi Guys,

sorry, but I think that there is no chance to add legaly these maps into Locus. They use know projection mechanism and also thanks to description Skids provided it should be possible, but I swear to keep Locus legal and on right ways in all cases. Anyway currently is on Play version with support for Orux SQLite format, so I think it`s a good way where to start ... enjoy ;)

Fair enough - keeping Locus legal means it is also sustainable, which is good news for me. With Orux SQLite support, we now have everything we need, anyway - thanks!

Spain doesn`t work - could it be?

Hi Experts,

when I look on the http://www2.ign.es/iberpix/visoriberp... site there are very good hill shades used for IGN Spain. Any Ideas to get such a kind of map?

Hello Fifi

Do you think that it`s possible to do the same with IGN coastlines.

Thank you

Salut Totolasticot ! (Quel surnom ! ;-) )

Je repost dès que possible.

A bientôt !

Salut Fifi,

Merci pour l`intéret que tu portes à ma question.

Il n`y a pas d`urgence, j`ai essayé de bidouiller de mon côté sans succes.

A bientôt!

@Fifi & totolasticot: Seems you are both multilingual talents and able to communicate not only in French but also in English. However most of us are happy to have English as a common language. Would be nice if you`d let us participate without need for us using google translator.

Thanks

Change for France - IGN map :

Ballooni55 pointed out a while ago in the forum that the previous script "IGN-France.xml" in http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/community:ignmaps_mobac did not work anymore.

Locus Wiki / Knowledge base is now updated with a modified script.

Hmm I get error message like

it works very well.

It seems your xml is wrong..

edit:

.. but zoom 19 doesnt work.

@Gynta : Thank you for having tested. You`re right, zoom 19 doesnt work, i forgot to change, max is 18. Tanks again for that.

@Jajaballard : As Gynta says, you probably have a problem in you script at line 1 column 8 but it could also come from what Totolasticot mentioned below ; it lacks "amp;" after each variable into the script that i inserted above. It was in the original script, but it seems that the getsatisfaction page stuck with this characters string. So, please see there for the correct script : http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/community:ignmaps_mobac

Sorry for that ...

Cooooool !!!

As i mentioned above and as you probably also noticed, it seems that the getsatisfaction page stuck with this characters string.

You can use IGN Geoportail maps in Locus. I finally figured out how to do it and I want to share it with you now.

See this post: http://forum.locusmap.eu/viewtopic.ph...

Hello Moutters

I have tested you XML code but locus can not display the tile, on the screen i can see the error message: Access denied.

Thank you for your help

Hello guys,

I just today received email from Gilles from IGN server

Hello,

Some pages explain how to illegally download maps of IGN France from Géoportail. Would you remove theses pages?

Sincerely,

Gilles

Seems, you did here nice job, but sorry. "Terms of use" are saint for me, as I wrote here https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/top...

I modified my entry on forum.locusmap. It now respects your Terms of Use. Sorry for having abused it for a short while.

photo

noutters, it`s not mine Terms of use ... access to maps is based on Terms of use of French geoportal here http://www.geoportail.gouv.fr/.

Ok I see. Anyway, hopefully they won`t bother you anymore :-)

As IGN is now providing the possibility to purchase (or rather rent) maps directly from partner apps and that Locus has a similar mechanism, is there any discussion to have legal IGN maps in Locus?

I have to only say that we'll focus on IGN map during summer. So the goal is to support something like subscription which enable the usage of IGN map in Locus

In France, some IGN maps are know available under the item Geoportail : it's a great news that some agreement was found to make them available. Thanks

I'm glad to say that we're finishing negotiation with IGN service and their maps will be very likely available in Locus in next two months

These maps look excellent for cycle touring. I too have found OSM "lacking" in some remote country areas on past cycling trips, and has sometimes caused confusion, or we stick to the main roads instead of the nicer quite road because of lack of map detail. It is a shame there is no offline IGN purchase option because I load maps in home country (Australia) and don't plan to have data connection in France. And often there will be no signal in remote areas anyway. So, to clarify, can I please ask, if I "subscribe" to France IGN maps for one month for 380 LoCoins, do I need a continual data connection while Locus is displaying an IGN map or does it cache the map to some extent? I noticed at least one "partner app" SityTrail has a quite reasonable 11,99€/mois download/ offline option

photo
1

I see and you're right. You need data connection to display IGN map right now. Anyway we're planning to extend it to possibility download IGN maps for offline usage. The online subscription was only first step in our cooperation with IGN. It takes some tome to implement offline IGN maps, because new contract is needed some step on your side etc...

Thanks for the feedback Petr. I reluctantly went ahead and bought the SityTrail app & offline IGN French maps for my next cycle touring. The IGN French map really is amazing for detail - wow. But I would much rather have spent my money at the Locus store because your app and support and community is the best. The SityTrail forum is almost "dead", very inactive, and their app is good only because of offline IGN.

photo

Thank you! :) But as I wrote it takes some time to support offline IGN maps.

Hi,

I'd like to inform that Locus supports the Offline IGN maps in from this summer. More about it http://www.locusmap.eu/hiking-season-in-france-starts-with-ign-offline-maps-in-locus/

Best regards

Petr
