Editable points with Google My Maps

I save my cycling maps in .kmz format. Most of the time when I import one of these files into Google's My Maps I can click on the route line and it will show me a series of points along the line that I can then move, delete, edit. Sometimes, though, when I import one of my saved routes the line that comes up in My Maps is entirely uneditable. No points show up when I click the line. I don't know what I'm doing differently between the two scenarios. The two files are both .kmz. Any ideas? I want them all to be editable. Thanks

Good day Chris,

unfortunately none of our team ever worked with Google My Maps.

In Locus Map is no option in export to KML/KMZ format, that should affect it. Isn't there any visible button during import that should affect this?

I'm searching on internet if there exists any known problem to you like "layer not editable after import to my maps", but I'm unable to find anything ( except official doc: https://support.google.com/mymaps/answer/3024839?hl=en ).

You wrote "sometimes". This mean one file is once working and second time did't? Maybe if same file works same for every import, there is some similarity to these that do not work. Maybe it's size is too big?

Thanks for your quick response, Menion. It may be that the files are too big. When I say sometimes, I mean that, for instance, on three consecutive days of tracking my route with Locus and saving the files, Day 1 and Day 3 will be editable in My Maps, but Day 2 won't. So, Days 1 and 3 will always be editable, but Day 2 never will be. And I didn't know if I was accidentally doing something different to make Day 2 non-editable. I will use a notepad editor to reduce the number of recorded points and see if that helps. Thanks again.

It worked. If I split the files in half, they are then editable on My Maps. Thanks again.

Hello Chris,

so it looks that problem is really a size of files, better number of points I expect.

Quick search ... this looks like a nice tool for your needs, if you do not need exact track after record.

Also this idea here on help desk may be interesting to you, so suggest to vote.

If there will be something I may help, feel free to write me.
