Solved

When I am using navigation over GPX track there are no voice commands. I have set up them and they are available when using regular navigation

Hi Przemyslaw,

could you please post screenshots of your voice settings? Settings > navigation > select voice and settings > language&units > Text-to-speech.

OK and what are your settings of navigation > Advanced > Number of commands? Or - when you start the navigation along the GPX, are there navigation commands generated (arrows in the upper left corner when the route changes direction)?

Hi. Yes the arrows are seen in the top left corner and on the map.

I am listening to music during driving maybe that is the issue

Try to change the sound output in settings > miscellaneous > sound output. If it doesn't help - do you happen to own a Xiaomi phone? We know about sound problem there...

I've got more questions: have you tried the TTS testing phrase? Is it working? Have you checked also the volume control in the menu under the navigation arrow box? Are you moving or are you just testing Locus at home?

No reactions here for one month so I'm closing this topic.

I have a similar problem. I will answer the questions as if you had asked me: Screenshots of voice settings: attached

Number of commands: High

Xiaomi? No.

TTS Testing phrase: Works fine.

Volume: Set to max. (N.B the app say's 'Lets go' at the start of navigation just fine.

Moving/Home: Moving.

Hi Sam,

is the route you navigate imported from outside of Locus or is it created in Locus route planner?

photo

Well this might help solve the problem: I do a mix of both: usually plan the route on plotaroute.com then import to locus and make changes on the day. It's possible that the commands work on parts of the route that I've edited in locus, but not on the online parts. Or vice versa. But that is just a guess, I haven't tested /proved that.

In case of imported routes Locus generates the navigation commands automatically at places with the most significant direction changes. In case of Locus route planner the commands are added by the routing service used. Could you please share the problematic route as GPX here for testing?

I think in this case I used online routing (in locus) to generate the route for the southern part, and I made the northern part manually (in locus). It worked in the north but not in the south.

I see now that there are blue dots on the Northern part, where the TTS commands were working, but not on the southern part. Do I need the blue dots to be there for the commands to work

photo

I can see it too - the blue dots mark points with navigation commands. What routing service did you use for the southern part?

I made it in Locus, and I think I was using MapQuest. That's what was selected in Settings>Naigation>Navigation Data Source.

I made the track using 'Route Planner' in Locus, with 'Drawing Mode' set to 'Walk' for part of the route and .. Wait I think I've cracked it.....

I think I didn't select 'include navigation hints'... is that what creates the little blue dots?

So... if that's it, let me check my understanding please: The blue dots (what do we call those, by the way?) are the things that make the phone give commands when you get to/near them. The way to get them is to plan your route to include 'navigation hints' (is that what the blue dots are called?).

If I import a route from somewhere else (or already have a route that doesn't have the blue dots) is there a way to add them in later in Locus?

Thank you SO much for your help with this, by the way, I'm incredibly impressed.

And... since I was trying to work it out and might have got the hang of it and want to save the result, what is error code:

"RoutePlannerActivity, code: 11520" please? (I got it while trying to save a route I had edited)

Sam,

Need to export a navigation file from online services ? Keyword for succes = tcx

1. Plotaroute: Export as tcx. See the attached picture. 2. Ride with gps: Export as tcx.

If tcx export option is available, export to the tcx standard course file system.

Import tcx (inclusive nav commands) into Locus and in the planner continu your edit.

Locus share: -> Export to gpx 1.1 Locus track.

In attachment a combination by Plotaroute_Locus.

A Locus compatible gpx track file.

Exactly, when you want to have navigation commands added to a route, leave the "include navigation hints" checked. The blue dots are called navigation points and each is carrying a navigation command (or "hint" so as not to sound too "techie"). When you have a route imported from outside of Locus, Locus adds the hints automatically on places with direction changes.

The announcement most probably comes from the router, i.e. MapQuest and honestly I don't have a clue what it means.

Sam, can you repeat the situation when the announcement appeared?

photo

I cant recreate the error but I 'saved as' instead of 'save' and that worked fine.

Is it possible to create 'custom' commands/hints? For walking, 'third exit' isn't very useful, but 'hug the tree line' or 'walk across open ground towards antenna' would be more helpful. Can you type what you want it to TTS?

photo

hm, interesting but without recreating we can't solve the issue if there is any. As for TTS, there's a way how to customize it but not in that extent you mean: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:tts

Thank you add do much for your help with this.

Hi Sam. No problem. I recommand tcx because this is a 'standardised' navigation file system. Contrary to gpx system where there is no such a common navigation standard, so each service (inclusive Locus) has own (incompatible) methods of exporting navigation commands into a navigation gpx track file.

Should you ever import a gpx track navigation file (no garantee for succes) into Locus do not separate the waypoints that carry the navigation information from the track.

At import of a navigation gpx track file Locus offer you import dialog. SET: Merge points with imported track !
