Full colored cursor

I would like to have a full coloured cursor because I can't see the cursor while bikeriding because just outline is not good to see. I could emagine one in a signal green for example, or colours changeable.

Hi,

the navigation cursor is hardcoded in the app but you can use your own custom cursors. How to do it see here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:icons

Thank you Michal, can you share the default navigation cursors icon pack?

Hi Thomas

take a look at

http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?board=42.0

and view threats > CURSORS

e.g. http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=2338.0

if you want other colored cursor, modify unpacked files with e.g. GIMP

important: keep the file names while you save your version.

Finaly pack all your modified files to xyz.zip and copy it to Locus/icons/cursors

Hı Thomas,

Had the same problem.

The current solution is either install a different third party cursor icon pack or manually replace cursors you need. A bit of a hassle, frankly.

I do currently use the navigation cursor as my main moving cursor as described here http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/default-navigation-cursor-arrow-in-place-of-a-default-moving-cursor

But I think it would be really nice to have an option to choose a few styles of each cursor directly in the app. @Michal Stupka @Menion

Hi Hein,

you can change the cursor yourself. Go to Locus Store > Graphics and download a set of custom cursors. Then change the cursor in Locus settings > Maps > Objects&Style > Map cursors

Hi Michal,

thank's for your quick answer, but I mean a navigational cursor, the original (standard) arrow is just outlined an not to be seen while riding, I wish a full coloured cursor in green or blue or what ever, a cursor on an navigational aid that you read while you're riding should be very showy, don't you think? In my cursor list is only the standard cursor, in the list he is full coloured blue, but on the map he is just outlined. In the store there are only two bicycles avaliable, funny, but I know that I'm riding a bicycle, I don't have to be reminded when I look on the map, there I'd rather prefer a quick overview where on the trail I am when the going get's tough!

Regards,

Hein

Same question some time ago by other user: (I did not test nor do use !)

See:

Hi Hein,

I did replace the default outline cursor with default navigation one, which is full colored blue and visible for me. İt is a bit of a hassle but it worked.

Then you can create your own icon http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:icons or change the default one. Here is the default icon package: http://help.locusmap.eu/attachments/8603

Hi Michal,

While it is possible to replace and customize the icons, it is really a hassle to do it. It is a problem for literally everyone I have recommended Locus to personally. Lot's of people use navigation apps in regular mode just to see where they are. And outline cursor is not good for that at all. Besides, most of the other nav apps display a full colored cursor by default and people are used to that.

In short, it would be really nice to be able to choose a few icon styles for each mode directly in Locus.

Hi Michal,

is this a joke? I mean, I payed money for your App, and you leave me here with programming everything by myself? Maybe you suggest I should start studying IT at the University to run your App or what?

Come on, that's can't be true! How should I get the bloody icon from the zipp into your App? And why is it not allready in the App when I bought it? I mean, show me one user who is happy with your outlined cursor, everybody needs a magnifying glas to find where he is on the screen. Take a look at Garmin, or Falk, or any other navigational aid on the market, they all have clearly visible cursors in full colour with sades and everything.

Please do me a favor an programm some nice fullcoloured navigation cursors and get rid of the bloody bicycles, that's realy a joke!

By the way, my other problem, track editing, is not working, I can't move neither the green, nor the red dots, "Benutzerhandbuch" is only partly in german language (track edition is not), I mean, your selling this App in Germany, so you should offer german support and complete translated workbook and so on...

Michal, to me this all looks not very professional, sad to say so.

Regards,

Hein

Hi Hein,

> is this a joke?

no, it's not

> I payed money for your App, and you leave me here with programming everything by myself? Maybe you suggest I should start studying IT at the University to run your App or what?

You paid for the application that has a lot of self-customization options. You did NOT pay for personal customization of the app by developers.

> How should I get the bloody icon from the zipp into your App?

I've already given you the advice: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:icons. "Advanced" section of the manual is available in English only as we suppose this part is usually accessed by experienced users with elementary knowledge of English.

> And why is it not allready in the App when I bought it?

It IS already in the app but I extracted it out especially for your so that you can customize it.

> I mean, show me one user who is happy with your outlined cursor

You and Lux Calor are the only ones who asked us to change it

> Everybody needs a magnifying glas to find where he is on the screen.

It is not necessary. You can enlarge the cursor to 400% in settings > Maps > Map objects > Map cursors:

88b521406aa68315aef0d52de3cc38dd

> Take a look at Garmin, or Falk, or any other navigational aid on the market, they all have clearly visible cursors in full colour with sades and everything.

We use an outlined cursor for showing position and movement because full colored cursor can cover some important details on map. However, we use full cursor for navigation

> get rid of the bloody bicycles, that's realy a joke!

This cursor set has been added by a respected Locus power user @gynta

> By the way, my other problem, track editing, is not working, I can't move neither the green, nor the red dots,

Would you mind to create another thread? This is a completely different topic.

> "Benutzerhandbuch" is only partly in german language (track edition is not)

It is available in German, see http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=de:manual:user_guide:tracks:editing

> I mean, your selling this App in Germany, so you should offer german support and complete translated workbook and so on...

We are a small Czech-based company and, for now, we don't have any German outlet. Maybe some time in future. The Manual is translated into German continuously by a native Austrian. Now cca 95% of the manual is translated. Nevertheless, German support is offered by a few Locus power users.

Have a nice day!

Dear Michal Stupka

> Everybody needs a magnifying glas to find where he is on the screen.

It is not necessary. You can enlarge the cursor to 400% in settings > Maps > Map objects > Map cursors:

I'm new here - and have a question.

I can't see these "Map cursours" under "Map objects":

There are only following points (German Version):

- Kartenmaßstab

- Zeit-Kreise

-Distanzkreise

- Dynamische Höhe

- Linie zwischen Karten-Cursor und Position

- Kurslinie (Bewegungsrichtung)

- Kurslinie (Geräteausrichtung)

- Textgröße

But where can I find the "Map-Cursors" to enlarge them?????

Thanks in advance

Walter

Found it in other Menue-category:

Settings > Controlling > Map Screen > Map Cursors (In German: Einstellungen > Steuerung > Kartenansicht > Kartencursor)

Obviously there were a Menue-modification last time.

Hope, this helps other people to find it faster than me.

Greetings Walter

Hi Walter,

yes, the settings structure has changed a bit since the last post in this thread. Unfortunately, it is not technically possible to update all helpdesk threads. Thanks for understanding.
