Hi folks. I' d like to buy a new smartwatch, only to use for Locus app. Is there a list of a "certified" tested brand and/or model ? For outdoor, bike use. Or any suggestion from users ? Any garmin model is supported ?

Thanks :-)

Hello,

unfortunately, we have no such list, but any Android Wear watch should be compatible and currently Wear for Locus Map does not require any special hardware features or sensors on the watch as all the data, even GPS, are currently streamed from Locus Map on you mobile phone. So I would recommend you to just pick the watch that you like with enough features for your fitness/outdoor activities.

Just please make sure that watch is really running Android Wear which should be clearly noted in the specification and maybe stay away from some less-known Chinese manufacturers as we have seen some Chinese watch that ie. ran some custom Android 4.4 flavor but it was not Android Wear.

Garmin uses custom operating system for their watch so I doubt they will have anything with Android Wear unfortunately.

If you want to use Locus Wear then Milan's statement is correct. If you also want to integrate the heart rate measurement in LocusMap, smart watches are compatible which transfer their heart rate measurement to an Android smartphone. Thus a pulse measurement in LocusMap is possible. The smartphone takes over all other functions via Locus Map.
