Issue with dropbox ?

jajaballard shared this problem 6 years ago
Not a Problem

Hi Menion,

when I export a gpx to dropbox, Locus say' all Ok "1 Track exported".

But in my Dropbox the file does not appear. It works perfect in the past. Same problem for the backup to dropbox.

When I use the steps via "share" and select "dropbox" to share it is working fine...

Re connection to Dropbox does not change anything.

As from my records it seems to work fine at least until beginning of February.

Any ideas?

BTW: Just tested with Google Drive: Seems like the same issue.

And:

In both systems "create a new folder" direct from Locus works fine !

Hi,

could you please describe step-by-step how you get to the issue? I can't simulate it.

  1. Sceanrio one
  2. Start Locus
  3. Select Data/ Tracks
  4. Go to the level of your recorded gpx files
  5. long push to one of your files
  6. use icon "Export" from the lower bar
  7. Export type "GPX
  8. Export Path: your "Dropbox" or "Google Drive"
  9. Hit "Export"
  10. Locus message "1 Track(s) exportiert"
  11. Result: Despite the message no file is exported to "dropbox" or "google drive"

Second scenario:

  1. In Locus, go to the detail screen of a recorded track
  2. select "share" icon from the lower bar
  3. select "share (gpx-file)" from the menue
  4. select your "dropbox" or google drive" from the list of applications
  5. select a location in the systems
  6. hit select
  7. hit save
  8. Locus message....Sorry it was cone to fast :-)
  9. Result: file is exported to "dropbox" or "google drive"

Until recent scenario one was working too, but now only sceanrio two is working.

This causes problems, since only for scenario the auto export is working.

Well, I tested the scenario one and without any issue... what device and Android version do you use?

Galaxy S5 Android 6.0.1

Sorry, we aren't able to simulate your issue even on an identical device/Android. Try to reinstall Dropbox or logout/login to it.

did you read my initial post?

login/out does not change anything

well, "re connection to Dropbox" as you wrote wasn't clear enough for me, I'm sorry. OK, so logout/login didn't help. What about reinstalling Dropbox?

just tried. 100% deinstall of dropbox seems not possible... So I set it back to initial version and reapply latest update. Dopbox forced me to login again. So now dropbox is back on the system, but no change in the Locus behavior.

I'm wondering, because Locus obvious can access my "dropbox" and I'm able to create a new folder in dropbox from Locus. Only storing a track file from Locus fails. Also for "google drive"

Since I'm also beta tester for Locus.... is there any change in the cloud storage area with´one of the latest betas? There seem to be some stuff used by both Locus /Locus Free-beta.

Tested both on the latest public version and on the latest Beta. No problem. Last thing, perhaps try to backup all your Locus data and reinstall Locus Map. Then reconnect with Dropbox. As I've mentioned before, we can't help with an issue we can't simulate.

Reinstall of Locus done already :-(( no change

OK, then solution from my side.....

Locus>Settings>Misc>Upload only when connected to wifi > off

>>>>It works Perfect<<<<

Easy eh?

Sorry Michael, this was really not the kind of support as I 'm used to get by locus. Next timed please contact Menion directly, if situation is not clear to you.

This cost me almost half a day of unnecessary uninstall/install and so on...Thanks!

Regards

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

Menion is extremely busy and he wants to be contacted only when an issue is simulated - your issue wasn't simulated even with the same device and OS version. You did not provide information you are not connected by a wifi. Nevertheless, I consulted your issue with Menion and even he didn't come up with the option to switch off the wifi-only upload - again, because you didn't provide this information.

Wish you a nice day.
