Playing with Fire?

I am very happy with Locus Pro and the service I have had when I have needed advice over the years. I want to continue as one of your satisfied customers. Unfortunately, I am going to need to change my tablet soon and was looking at the Amazon Fire, but understand there are problems with Locus Pro on the Fire.

Are there any work around because if I can't use Locus, I will not buy that machine.

When I buy a new machine do I need to re purchase Locus Pro or is there a facility to transfer from existing machine.

Best regards ...... John

Dear John.

Thank you for your quesion.

Locus app is fully compatible with Amazon fire tablets, but Amazon Fire doesn't support Google Play store. It means, there is necessary to purchase Locus again via Amazon app store.

Unfortunately, we are not able to move your license from Google Play to Amazon.

In case of other questions, please, contact me.

Kind regards

Good Morning Hana

Thank you for your reply. It is good news that you believe that I could buy the Amazon Fire and continue to use Locus. I do not mind having to pay again after all of the use that I have had out of my first purchase.

However, we had already seen the option of repurchasing from Amazon but attach a photo of the screen of my wife's Fire when we looked at it. It looked to us as if it was saying that the Locus Pro app was not compatible with her machine. an Amazon Fire also, or am I mistaken?

Hello John.

Thank you for your answer.

There is only one unsupported device - Fire tablet from 2011. Please, see an attach. Is this your wife's tablet?

Hello again Hana

Thank you for that quick reply.

I does seem as if you have solved the problem although I am surprised that my wife's Fire is that old. It looks as if when I bought it (only 2 or 3 years ago) I must have unknowingly bought an old model.

I can now look forward to continuing with Locus Pro on a NEW Fire.

Many thanks for your assistance.

You also have the option of installing the Google Play Store app on the Amazon Fire tablet.

Installation instructions are available from several sources (search for: "Google Play Store app for Amazon Fire tablet"). Here are two:

Thank you Taras. I had seen that as a possibility but still had a concern. May be I was being a little computer naive but wondered if the fact that I could get 'google play' onto the Fire would be any guarantee that apps available from it would work.

On my present machine I have tried to download apps only to receive a message to say that it was not compatible with my tablet.

Good evening again Hana

From my previous question, I have made progress. I have a new Amazon Fire and have also managed to get Google Play installed. I have downloaded Locus Pro . My question now is :-

On my old machine I have a map of all England which you offered onetime ago. I can't find it on the list of available maps to download for use offline. Is it still available and if so, where can I find it please.

Best regards ... John

Good evening.

Even before I have started to transfer anything to my new device, I have managed to wipe all of my maps. I can download new ones to cover all but the England one that was a gift from yourselves.

Was that a once-and-for-all offer or is it still available. If it is could you tell me how I can load it again please. It was very useful to have one map replace all of those other individual ones.

Best regards...... John
