Is the Smartwatch Ticwatch S & E supported by LocusMapPro? Can the smartwatch be connected directly to Locus as a heart rate monitor?

Hello,

this smartwatch is supported by Wear for Locus Map add-on because it is running Wear OS by Google. As stated in our previous conversation, HRM function is not supported right now on Wear OS devices but we plan to add this support to the add-on in a near future.

Hello Milan, can you say approximately when this feature comes? I hope soon. I would buy a watch with Wear OS on your statement to be able to then transfer the heart rate in LocusMap.

Kind regards

Hello Hardliner,

I would not like to promise anything right now, as we have to implement and test the feature to see how it works first but my personal estimate is that we could release the next version within a month hopefully with HR feature included.

Have you considered using HRM chest strap instead? They are really considerably more precise (not relying on optical sensor that smartwatches use) and offer very long battery life.

Hello Milan, a chest strap is not an option. I've worked with miolink and Locus before. Only there is the battery life after prolonged use very short. And the features that the Polar M600 has paired with Locus almost unbeatable. This allows me to do my running training without locus, and then summarize on the bike as a bike computer on the smartphone. I also use the navigation in LocusMap to drive unknown routes.

Additional Info: The decision has now finally fallen on the Polar M600. The Ticwatch S can not do 24/7 activity monitoring. But both have WearOs as their operating system

I would agree to test. As a beta tester.

Ok, great. I will let you know if we release a beta version, but any feedback will definitely be welcome any time. Thanks.

Hello Milan, when can you expect the heart rate of Android Wear devices to be transmitted to Locus Map? Now one month has already passed, is it already possible to test the function?

Hello,

sorry I was on the vacation for a while but otherwise I am concentrating on the Live Tracking feature right now. As for progress I have successfully tested reading the HR in the add-on and Menion has prepared an interface in LM so that I could push HR data to LM. But now I would need to write some kind of service to keep the HRM alive and probably some kind of settings to disable for people who don't want this feature because it will drain quite a bit more battery mostly for people who previously allowed for the watch to go to sleep (ie. screen always on/ambient mode settings off).

So yeah, it is not so trivial as it had seemed before and it is not ready yet because of pending changes in Live tracking. Sorry :(

Best Regards

Milan

With my Polar M600 watch, the pulse measurement is only activated when GPS tracking is also activated. When I start a run, the watch activates the GPS sensor and the heart rate monitor. After I stop the recording, both are automatically deactivated. I think such a logic should be built into LocusMap.

One more thing..... I would like to continue the activity with Polar. Additionally it should be possible to forward the pulse measurement to LocusMap. In the LocusMap in the tracking settings you should be able to set where the pulse measurement should be taken from.

Hello,

I don't quite understand your last comment. Do you mean you would also like to synchronize HRM with Locus Map even without using Wear for Locus Map add-on? Like when using Google Fit or something?

What is the function of the Locus Wear? Start the track recording and see where you are. In the course of this, the pulse measurement would also be transmitted. If the pulse measurement can be transmitted independently, this would also be an interesting function.

Where does Locus Wear complement Locus Map? I think Locus Wear should be a remote control of the functions on the smartphone. When I start a recording on my smartphone, the Locus Wear app should start automatically on my watch to make it easier to use. So I don't always have to take my smartphone out of my pocket.
