Distance measurement with height indication

Is it possible to build a routine into Locus with which it is possible to see immediately which height has to be overcome at the short distance for short sections? This display would be very good when deciding whether to drive a route one way or the other. It would be good if the display were displayed as a graphic.

If I understand correctly.

Would you like to add a view of the elevation at the red (Two fingers measurement) line?

Of course it would have to be absolute value. No +/-

No detectable direction of measurement.

Yes, you understood me correctly. A short distance measurement would also show the height to be overcome. For example, if I see 450 m at the starting point and 520 at the end point, then the height should be displayed including any intermediate heights. 70 m would be without intermediate heights in the example. With intermediate heights through waves in the road e.g. 90 m.

I understand.

However, other tools are available for this more detailed route view.

Such a "fast" measurement display is complex.

Analyzing the "line across the map" does not seem to me to be a meaningful value. Or very small.

For this purpose, there is a contour (height line) on the map (additional options for shading and coloring for terrain).

These data are essential for routes, walkways, mountain passes, etc.

What you see in the picture below I did for 4 clicks!

What four clicks?

Route planner something-or-other? I don't see a chart there.

Ah yes, route planner, I see it now. Never mind, thanks. I'll explore.

Yeah, thanks for the information. It was clear that programming this particular application is a very demanding task. It was intended as an "idea", which I noticed when using Locus as a helpful additional tool.

Adding a simple difference in height to the red line is not complicated. It might be good in some situations.

There is a vote... we will see.

Good day Hel,

- for most common use-case, when you are somewhere in the field and wants to know some parameters to another place on the map exists "Line to GPS" (parameters above and below line may be defined over config.cfg as 'map_items_line_to_gps_value_above' and 'map_items_line_to_gps_value_below').

- for more complicated measurement or measurement from another place then your current location should really be used "Route planner" as Condor correctly mentioned. There is an option (left big blue button) to set manual draw, so you may get elevation chart directly between two points. Also try to move with points when the chart is visible, nice heh? :).

So suggest to use this tool. It is not so quick as for example "Quick measure", but gives you a lot better tools to measure exactly what you need.
