"bench" symbol is not displayed (internal Hike/bike theme)

Solved

Opposite to Elevate/Elements openandromap themes, "bench" symbol is not displayed. Please see attached screenshots.

Why it is important for me — I hike with my 4-years old daughter, she can do at least 10km tours, but she likes benchs :)

Also, there is also "swing" symbol.

Used maps: result the same regardless of is it openandromap or LoMap (germany_south). As you have to monetised product, I prefer to buy LoMap not only because it provides POI.

Hi,

I thought more traditional maps like Kompass, IGN or some city plans. We quickly discussed it in our team and from our opinion map shouldn't contain them. More over there are mentioned alternative themes that can helps.

Thank you for understanding

Hello,

The bench aren't really visible in Locus internal themes. It's not a bug, we removed them about two years ago with goal to simplify the theme. I can understand your situation but I really think that the bench isn't common element in standard hiking maps. But the "bench" element is in raw map data and you can use alternative theme to display them (as you did)

Swing symbol - I think you mean swing gate. It's really missing and this is a bug. It'll be fixed in next version of LoMaps.

Thank you

> isn't common element in standard hiking maps

@Petr Voldan Please install Osmand+ app and set "Map style" to "Touring View" You will see bench :) Please see attached screenshot. You don't need even to configure "More Details", just enable default map style for hiking ;)

So, it will be cool if I can continue to use internal theme. If you don't want to display it by default, just give an checkbox :) (currently you provide 4 checkboxes, Elevate theme or Osmand+ app provides much more).

(to be sure that Locus Map will be awesome for every user without need to install / seeking alternatives app or themes).

Ok. Thanks. As result I have to use openandromaps in addition to LoMap (since POI supported only for LoMap, http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/separating-poi-db-downloads-from-map-downloads#comment-35409). In any case there are numbers of missed functionality in the default internal theme. Will be cool if default theme will have checkboxes to enable such symbols (and "special constructions" / "accommodations") but as I see (http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:map_tools:theming), no even symbol SVG file for bench and other.

I too am greatly missing the option to display more items (like benches, playgrounds, etc.). I understand the want for a clean and uncluttered map and I'm aware that other themes render those entities.

But for longer hikes, knowing the next bench to rest is essential. Couldn't you make it an additional option in themes options to display more items?

Together with that, LoMaps render "stones" which aren't needed, imho (had to google and search on OSM to understand the LoMap symbol for stone! It isn't in the legend!)

Hi,

we discuss it today and I think that we could extend our online POI service. So the map wouldn't visible directly on the map but it would be possible to search for a "bench" to display the benches around you.

Benches, huts and shelters are the most important POI types on longer hiking trips for me as well.

What is need and what not is debatable, after all user def. filtering of categories is needed, but Menion probably has enough to do ;-)

I only mention that the huts, shelters and picnic sites (locality that is suitable for outdoors eating) are displayed on the map. The discussed benches are common benches in the city parks, bus stops, etc...

Common benches, like you describe, aren't of interest. It's especially those in the woods while hiking/trekking that are of interest

I see. this the reason why I mentioned it. The bench discussed in this topic is related to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity=bench

Problem is, if in the woods, I'd like to see those, too :-)
