Hi Paul,

could you describe the problem in a greater detail? Is the recording paused od stopped prematurely? Is Locus app working when the recording stops or is it killed by operation system? etc. If there are any error announcements, please make a screenshot and post it here.

This is a new app to me. Previously I was using ViewRanger, but a friend recommended Locus.

Every time I used it the app showed as paused shortly after starting  and as I was walking with the phone in my pocket, I didn't notice. After the first pause I had restarted  but it paused again.

I went through all the many user settings  and set them as I understood to maintain offline recording.

Next time, as I started, I was informed that I needed to turn on GPS. I checked and it was on as always in high accuracy mode.  Maybe the app had not picked up the GPS readings as it had only just been opened. The track started to record and I checked after 5 minutes,, only to find the GPS was off. I switched it back on and restarted the record. Next time I looked

after 10 minutes, recording had paused again, so I gave up and later opened this ticket.

I like the look of the App and would upgrade but not if there are constant problems with maintaining a full track record.

     I will continue testing.

          Regards,

Hi Michal,

I have tried recording several times now on walks of up to 10 km with the App on my phone. Sadly, it has yet to complete a recording. It always switches off after varying distances. The recording stops when the app is working and is either showing as 'paused' when I havent done anything to pause it, or still recording when I see a message 'GPS not enabled'

When I start the track and app I have Location switched on at High Accuracy on my phone, which means the GPS is enabled. After recording some track, for some reason I get the message that GPS is not enabled, yet the setting is still showing High accuracy.

Attached screenshot of the error message, and also the recorded track after I had restarted the GPs twice. The straight line is when it was not recording because GPS was off and the last part of the track shows blank.

I am not having much success with this and wont be upgrading unless you can provide a relaiable solution to keeping the app recording the track.

         Regards,

              Paul

Hi Paul,

it looks like your device GPS is turning off when the phone is in standby. It is usually caused by its battery optimization. Exclude GPS unit/app from this optimization,as well as Locus Map. Try also Locus settings > Miscellaneous > Run Locus Map as service.

Apart from the Android system battery saver setting which I have as 'Do not optimise' for Locus Map, I use another app called Battery Guru, which flags up apps that are using unnecessary power and invites you to manually subdue them. Locus Map is marked as ignore.

I still don't know why the GPS switches off for Locus Maps while remaining at High Accuracy in location settings. It does not do this with Google Maps, Waze or Sygic.

Hi Paul,

we are doing our best to find out what causes your problem. Unfortunately, so far all our attempts have been unsuccessful. When we know more, we'll let you know.

In view of your failure to solve the problem, I uninstalled almost a year ago and have found better options.

Hi Michael, It seems you didn't read my comment. I was so unhappy with Locus Map and your inability to provide a solution that I uninstall Ed the app

Zero stars!

Hi Paul,

I read your comment. Let me explain. You uninstalled Locus so you are happy you don't have to use it - you use something else.. Other people with the same type of the phone keep using Locus without problems and they are happy too. So everybody is happy now.

best regards

Michal, Locus team
