Is it possible to have a satellite map for Italy too(for example, for Austria and Czech Republic, it's already possible)? How can I import in Locus Map downloaded offline maps of Google Maps?

Hello Eudo,

here you will find instructions.

http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_download

But do you download satellite map for such large area? It is a huge amount of data and you will probably also hit the daily limit.

Hello Eudo,

please see article that Condor mentioned how download online map. However consider the area for downloading.

To add satellite maps please open Menu - Maps - PLUS button - add online map - Europe -

Czech Republic - Satellite map CR - Add

Austria - basemap.at sattelite - Add

Some time ago I asked how I could use satellite maps with Locus Map. You answered me by recommending the on-line maps Czech Republic - Satellite map CR and Austria - basemap.at sattelite. But I need satellite maps of the area in which I live, that is South Tyrol, which is not included in the map of Austria. I tried to download satellite maps off-line from Google Maps but I can not see them in Locus Map. Is not there a way to use any satellite maps of South Tyrol in Locus Map?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards.

Dear Eudo,

there is no ortofoto for South Tyrol. However would you please check this map - https://josm.openstreetmap.de/mapsview?entry=South%20Tyrol%20Orthofoto%202014/2015 Would it be helpful for you?

Thanks, Petr

Dear Eudo,

well it could be possible (very likely) to add this map manually using custom provider definition file

But the best option is to prepare new version of app that will support this map. We'll focus on it in next versions.

Thanks, Petr

Thanks Petr,

Than can I use a JPG or PNG ortofoto file of a particular interest for me ie.: a few spots of 1000x 1000m area if I already have the sat pictures from somewhere. So the picture and the GPX route is transposed on eachother with opacity? What is the best way to include it to my phone if I wish to navigate by walking on the area?

Thanks and best regards,

Ferenc

Hi Petr,

If I found a similar link to this one : https://josm.openstreetmap.de/mapsview?entry=South%20Tyrol%20Orthofoto%202014/2015

but for a satelite map of Hungary .

Could that be put into also in the Locusmap library by your next update/upgrade ?

Thanks , Ferenc

Hi Ferenc,

I also found the same service (Orthophoto from 2005) but we have to found out the terms of use before we can add the map into the Locus Store.

Thanks, Petr

Hi Petr,

I think we look at the same. So it would be very good to have it available in Locusmap.

In any case it looks it is worth the upgrade to LM Pro. just to cover special needs.

I am also wondering how MApy.cz could get their fresh/quality Ariel layer (also for Hungary) being a smaller player than Locus

Thanks and best regards,

Ferenc

Hi,only to answer your latest question. Mapy.cz are developed by the biggest company on the Czech internet - Seznam.cz. With hundreds employees and big budget. But this isn't related with this topic.

Hi, Thanks for the info. In general your product is more functional for me. I just hope that on some day you may add satelite pic/map coverage at a wider scale. (Even if the SAT map is a bit older). Keep up the good work. :)

I know this is an old question, but it seems possible to have ortophoto maps of any area in Locus. Just use programs that download Google Earth maps for TrekBuddy, like Googleak.NET or MOBAC (old version or use custom XML file). Then open TrekBuddy (TAR) map in Locus.

Turns out it's simpler than that, it's enough to use Map Tweak extension.
