is it possible to use navigation when the phone is offline? without internet it seems that navigation on a vectormap does not work???

You need to be online to find the route for navigation. Once your route has been calculated (and you manage to follow it) you don`t have to be online.

and a map isn`t needed at all. For navigation it would be sufficient to follow the navigation route but of course the display has more interesting content if you have a map as background (either raster or vector, doesn`t matter).
