Locus Pro locks at 20 % offline Personal Map filed initialization

I have two offline maps(sqlitedb files). One is an Google classic(road map) and it is 406 MB in size. The journal file for the Google classic map is 206 KB The other is a Google Hybrid (satellite and road labels) and it is 3.62 GB in size and it`s journal file is 512 kb. When I open Locus Pro and it starts to inialize these two map files it locks up at 20% and stays that way for a long time . Sometimes it finally loads up and sometimes it doesn`t. I have a Toshiba Write tablet 32GB. Any info , comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome.

During first start Locus need to scan your personal map. This initialization can take couple of minutes.... in your case maybe half an hour because is really huge. Please start Locus and keep phone calm

Thanks for your answer. I use these maps on my tablet, not a phone. They are used to keep track of our position as a hot air balloon chase crew. The Google satellite hybrid map allows us to look ahead at potential landing sites.

I see. As Gynta wrote - Start Locus and wait. It doesn`t matter if you are on tablet or phone. These initialization is needed only once. When initialization is done then second start of Locus will be quick.

Locus finished update and I am in the field out where there is no internet and Locus wants internet to initialize so it means I can't use it. Any work around as I need it to collect data and it cost money to mobilise to site again.

if you update to latest version you are in the internet. but after that I have never seen that internet is required for offline activities.

did you de-install Locus in the first place ? then you need a database download in the process of first start.

No I did not. Locus updates itself but I did not start it while I had internet connection. I am in the field and ready to start data collection but Locus starts with initialization and it runs and terminates with a message that internet connectivity is required. So Locus will not start and my trip is wasted.

My question is in this circumstance, is there a workaround?

Why should Locus require internet connection to initialize after an update seeing that it is an app that is used outdoors. It would have been nice for it to work with an old configuration till internet connectivity can be accessed.

Hi,

this question is quite off-topic. However as Michael wrote - Locus needs internet connection only after first installation. It's NOT needed for update. I can discuss it with the main developer but as I know, there are probably only two situation when initialization would needed. You've updated from very old version of Locus version (more then year old) or you had to clean somehow private app data.

There is no workaround. Initialization is needed to check your license. However during initialization is downloaded about 100 KB data. It depends on your device, but in the worst situation is needed about 2 MB.

Unfortunately only solution is to submit initialization

Thank you for understanding

Best regards

Petr
