Add Start/ Stop times to recorded track statistics tab

When I go to the recorded track statistics tab there is nearly every possible figure BUT the time when I started the ride, and when I finished the ride. At present I have to tap near the start point > label > Trackpoint N > note the "created" time; then tap near the end point > label > Trackpoint M > note the time. Is there a quicker way?

@menion - Is there a quicker way to do this task? Strange there is almost every statistic possible but not when the track was started and finished.

Hello Andrew,

quicker, hmm, nope. When you open track screen, time "created" should be equal to time of first trackpoint. Endtime, yes, it's missing.

> time "created" should be equal to time of first trackpoint

ahh - I didn't realize, thanks. I don't think that is obvious though.

Is it always the case creation time = 1st point time?

Maybe the section below "Created" could be expanded with more user friendly terminology. Even the word "Created" is a bit technical/ non user-friendly although I can't think of a good replacement off hand. Maybe just remove "Created", and use individual "Started" & "Stopped" or similar.

No "always", because in cases when you for example import track, where trackpoints has no times, then this times is set to time when track was imported. So "created" is in this case universal name usable in all cases.

OK good. To me the choice of word "created" sounds geeky like a file "creation" time.

Hi Menion, I came here by looking for the same feature Andrew asked for, as I needed to know the start and stop times of a recorded track.

However, it doesn't seem that the "created" time is the "start" time (and I didn't import a track); look at the attached screenshot:

fca6c7f4613b6ae0d46c035f6b2778f4

These are the steps:

  • I tapped on the track info and as you can see in [1] the created time is 16:27.
  • Then using the map I picked up the details of a point near the end of the track [2] as you can see from the chequered flag
  • The point time is 16:20 [3], which is very close to 16:27. So the "created" time seems to be the time when I saved the track, not the "started"
  • Just to confirm the direction I pasted the map with the arrows in [4]: you see that the direction is correct

So I'm interested too to an expandable view when tapping on "Created" that displays start and end times. It's very useful when naming several tracks similarly or just to know when you began and ended a walk.

Am I missing something (I'm using Locus Pro v3.24.3 by the way)?

Good day,

really interesting. This is your own recorded track? If so, may you please export it for me to GPX and share it here? Thank you!

Yep, here it is. Thanks!

Thanks for a file.

Unfortunately it seems that Locus is not exporting "created time" into GPX files, only times of trackpoints.

I'm checking my own recorded tracks from last days and they always have correct time on first tab. Wasn't there something special on this your recording, like accidentally terminated Locus and restored recording later ( ah I've found possible issue here! fixed ) or just saved part of track or something like this?

I'll add into Locus one more check on times of tracks, so they should never be higher then time of first trackpoint, but interesting why this happen.

Now that you are talking about this, there was something "strange" on the same day I recorded this, but NOT on this specific file.

On another track there were 2-3 waypoints created on the same (wrong) position, even though I'm sure I'm added the points correctly using the "+" button on the widget. Basically I lost those...

Anyway I still think that a start/stop view doesn't hurt if you're willing to add it.

It would be OK even on the statistics sub-page (the popup that appears with the track computed data).

Importing this gpx record into Locus Pro 3.24.2

9357f4af20dbec28c922b04c646813dd

My Info display: 2 juni 2017, 15:36. (Virtual dj picture says 16:27)

It seems 16:27 is the start time of a second (short one) trackrecord segment ?

Entering that (inside deck) of the ferry boat phone probably lost the gps signal and therefore record has 2 segments. Does not explain the difference between my correct info display and Virtual dj's display.

It could be... but I can confirm you that I just exported the GPX with the Share button on the same Activity that I posted the screenshot.

As I wrote, in GPX is not exported "time created" parameter that is displayed in Locus Map app on first tab, so small complication ...

Anyway I made small fix, so hope it helps for next such cases.

Back to this idea, possible? For me, it is really hard to decide which statistics may be important for other users. No matter how I try, it will always partially depend on my preferences + preferences of few of you, who push on me. So what I think that best should be to create a poll, let it be for a while and then check and use it's result. This helps here ( if "end time" is interesting to more users ) as well as in other topics.

Please if you find a while, check this poll http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=597e2d5fe4b04db9c7cc6d95 and let me know if any important parameter is missing there. Thank you!

Thats a strange polling page. It seems I just have won a nice price ? Congrats ?

Probably I'll better keep away there, do not trust those gambling invitations.

I read suggestion by "virtual dj".

"interested too to an expandable view when tapping on "Created" that displays start and end times". ( OK...I support).

A polling page ?

Ah just an ads at bottom right? This is how it looks when someone do not wants to pay :). Updated ... no ads.

I'm not able to add votes in this poll. What is the secret?

I can count 6 statistics that are important to me.

But what this says is that different statistics are important to different people. Just as users can configure buttons on

  • main menu
  • main menu > more functions
  • quick settings
  • quick points
  • top/ right panels
  • stats on track recording panel

It suggests to me that users may wish to select a subset and decide order of statistics to display on their track statistics tab.

> check this poll and let me know if any important parameter is missing

poll is not active, I'm collecting info.

Every user, different tastes. More users anyway will have global preferences which I'll try to find.

EDIT: ok, poll enabled

Poll now working.

Statistics:

  • start date/time not just start time (track may span multiple days)
  • end date/time not just end time
