Backup not working

Todd Mann shared this problem 7 years ago

Backup, manual and automatic, have completely stopped working for me. I am concerned if I reinstall the app, my points and tracks will be lost.

This is also the sixth or so time I have typed out a message because it seems your ticket system is not working. This is becoming very frustrating

Good day Mr. Todd,

sorry to hear about such troubles. Unfortunately "stopped working for me" is not much helpful bug report. What exactly happen? You tap on menu > backup manager > Back up all , and then happen what? Give me please exact description. Thank you.

Also do you have defined custom path for your backups in settings > misc > custom directories? If so, try to setup it once more.

You also wrote that our ticket system is not working. This mean what? We are not aware of any problems on this help desk system. Thank you.

When I tried to send a detailed message threw "submit a ticket", it did not seem to be going threw. I was being redirected.

If I make a copy of the "database" folder that contains points and tracks, then reinstall the app, then replace that folder, will my points and tracks be restored?

The backup worked until five days ago, as I would routinely make a backup and copy it to my google drive (since it is sort of pointless to backup to the phone).

I now get the "process unsuccessful" when I try to manually backup, and automatic backup retries unsuccessfully every hour. I have tried every combonation of settings.

Is there enough space left on your phone ?

I made a copy of the entire locus folder as a backup. If I ever need to restore, could I just replace the files with the copy I made?

Good day Todd,

In case Locus report "Process unsuccessful" in this case, I can imagine there will be an error message on background that may helps. May you please try to create a log by this method? http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log , thank you.

About manual backup > yes, if you copy whole Locus Map folder, you may restore it back just by replacing files. Some app settings will be lost in this case, because not all settings are stored in this directory, but nothing serious.
