Black screen in v 3.25

Stephan Knull shared this problem 6 years ago
Solved

After update to 3.25 I get only a black screen right after the app starts.

This happens on my Galaxy S5 Mini and on my Galaxy Note 10 2014. I had to roll back to 3.24.3 and restore my backup (good to have one...).

Is this samsung specific or general Issue?

Stephan

Good day Stephan,

I'm sorry to hear about such troubles. Unfortunately on not of our device, we are not able to simulate same issue.

Is it possible for you to create a log by this method? This should help us a lot, thank you very much!

Guys I'm really sorry for a complications. Stephan thank You for a log! Unfortunately for my suprise, in log is not information about crash of Locus Map app.

In latest version I found one more serious issue caused by update of one 3rd party library. I have reverted this library to older version and generated new Locus Map version. May you please try it if this helps? Thank you!

You probably did not do update, but complete re-install right? Anyway I have just confirmed from other Czech thread that this problem is solved in this new version, so we are just uploading new version on Google Play and it should be available/work within an hour.

Thanks guys for a help and sorry for complications.

Hi,

I get the same error 1154 after the first start (this time no black screen).

A new bugreport is just sending in my phone right now.

Of course I did a complete reinstall because Android does not let you install an older version. You have to remove thos newer version first (true for 3.25.0).

This time I

  • freshly installed3.24.3
  • restored my backup I created before trying out the new version (as I knew already it will likely crash from my other device ;) )
  • Then updated with your new version 3.25.1

Regarding my old bugreport: I guess did not crash but just showed a black screen - so nothing useful in the logs.

Ah - I have Android 5.5.2 on my devices. Only stock root, no mods or so.

Hello Stephan,

thank you for a precise description. On Google Play should be already available Locus Map 3.25.1 version, so please update it and let me know in case of any problem. Thank you.

Hi Menion,

as I wrote before I already installed 3.25.1 with no luck (error 1154).

The app store still v 3.25.0

So this issue is *not* solved.

Good evening Stephan,

even a version from Google Play returns this error? This is really weird, because update is officially out for a few hours, no other users reported any new problem and few of them who reported similar issue like you wrote that it is solved as well.

Error 1154 means, that you try to start application that is not yet correctly registered on Google Play ( using not yet published version ).

Maybe I have complicated your direct link to 3.25.1 version before, sorry for that. If possible, please uninstall your Locus Map Pro, clear cache of Google Play application, restart device and try to install app again. I really believe that new version works fine, and this issue is just some side effect of cache of Google Play app that react incorrectly on request on license check at start. Thank you and really sorry for a complications.

EDIT: ah I see you wrote that in app store is still 3.25.0. This is wrong of course. New version is anyway published so just wait a while longer please. This is not in our hands, sorry.

Hi Nenion

since I did nit know the exact meaning I assumed my installed 3.25.1 would not work. App store did not let me install the new version. Now I tried again my installed app and it did work! Mentioned error went away.

So problem solved in one working day.

Congrats to you and your team - good job - thanks.

Have a good night all.

Good evening,

uff, I'm really glad to read positive news!

Error went away because Google Play accepted this new version so start of Locus and it's validation on Google Play was success.

Perfect, good evening and sorry once more for a complications.

Hej Menion,

now as I arrived at home I also updated on my tablet and can confirm that this works also.

I also have seen why I got confused in the app store - the current version says 3.25.0 - so I thought it was still the broken version, but it's not it is indeed the fixed 3.25.1 (as stated in the start banner).

Is this validation stuff a new thing in googles appstore and does it mean we cannot install apk's from elsewhere anymore (okay - this does not belong here anymore)?

Good night,

Stephan

Hello,

perfect!

It's not new. This validation is in Locus Map Pro since moment it's sold on Google Play. You may install it from whereever you wants. There is just a security check at start to confirm that APK file is valid ( not cracked ) and You as an user has purchased this license. Quite standard method that has (probably) all sold items on Google Play.
