Can't get map up to direction of travel

Answered

Locus Pro, nexus 7, android 6.0.1. Map rotates with travel but is off 120*-270*. Calibrated compass many times. Used in car and walking. No cover on device. What else might I try to get direction of travel to rotate map up? Other settings? Also I can not find the "rotation sensitivity" I seen in other posts.

Thanks Brad

PS also what is the small yellow line on the map?

Hi Brad,

have you also tried to change the compass settings? Locus settings > Sensors > Compass. Orientation via GPS or Auto-change. Don't use hardware compass in car - it interferes with the car appliances. Or try the "Compatibility mode" in Settings >Sensors.

"Small yellow line" - please send a screenshot.

OK, I think I tried most every combination with settings and think I got it. Settings>Sensors>Compass>'Orientation via GPS'. Auto change works sometime but when stopped some time get some odd behavior. Settings>Sensors>Compass>Compatibility 'mode ON'. I will do a little more testing.

I still can not find the "rotation sensitivity". If any one knows where this is please let me know.

Hi Michal, I didn't refresh the browser and did not see your post until after I posted. Both of what you said works. I need to do more testing, it was late last night. Thanks for the help. There is a small yellow/orange line with arrows, just like the 'direction of travel' line but yellow when using Guidance. Ill try to get a pict.

Hi Brad, the yellow arrowed line could be the heading line. Switch it off in Locus settings > Maps > Map objects.

Auto-change may cause problems when used in a car - interference with the car appliances. Use only GPS orientation when in a car.

Rotation sensitivity can't be set in Locus. It used to be in versions in the past but caused troubles. Actual system is much more stable.

Yes the GPS only works well. Map is always up per direction of travel. The update of the location is very slow, every 10 seconds. I tried to set the 'GPS update' time to shorter then 10 seconds but get an error. 10 Seconds is the smallest number I can set. Should the update rate be a lot faster them this? I could drive right by a trail turn before I get the next update. I will look for the ' heading line'.

Hi Brad,

1) "I tried to set the 'GPS update' time to shorter then 10 seconds but get an error." - where and how did you set speed of GPS update? I can't remember there's anything like this in Locus. Unless you switched on GPS auto-off mode (Settings > GPS&location > GPS auto-off. If yes, please switch it off.

2) Locus gets position data from your device's GPS unit and displays it as fast as the data are received, i.e. approximately once per second. If your device GPS sends position once in ten seconds, that's probably due to bad signal conditions or malfunctioning GPS unit.

Michal, again thanks for the help. The 10 second update is a setting in Locus map. I don't have the unit in front of me but I will look and see where this setting was. The GPS is updating quite fast when looking at it with GPS Status and tool box app. Maybe I have something checked or not checked after trying to get the direction of travel up on the map.

Hi Brad, setting of GPS update timing exists in Locus only within the "GPS Auto-off" mode. Switch it off in Settings > GPS&location > GPS auto-off.
