Hi there,

when i found a GeoCache and i want to log them, i can locally save the field note (because mostly when i ́m out i don ́t have enough signal on my cell phone), if im afterwords try to upload it, i fail because "the Field Note already exists" as Locus says...

Can someone tell me how to deal with this?

Best wishes

Check:

It will load all fieldnotes on your phone, but it is easy to delete them on GC.com

Could you provide us with the steps you take to achieve this message? I`m pretty sure that I have seen this message also, but was unable to reproduce it

Yes, shure.

I go to the Screen where i can create the Fieldnote and use the "offline logging" Option, say what i need to say and save it as "found".

After im Home, i open that Screen again, choose no the Option upload to GC.com and the Smily shakes and the Message comes up that the Note already exists... though thats all i do.

The Locus document I referred to shows a function of "Geocaching Live" that allows to upload all fieldnotes from the file "fieldnotes.txt". Check the documentation how to activate it.

Well, that Function i ́d never saw before, thanks for that. But i still cant change the content of the logged Cache in my Field Notes...... so how to do that?

I`m so old-fashioned that I use the QWERTY on my lap-top to edit fieldnote contents.

But if you prefer the phone`s "keyboard", it is always possible to edit (with a text editor) the file Locus/GCfieldnotes.txt

Well, yeah and you also have (on Notebook or Phone) to watch that you edit it in the right way, otherways its just garbish for GC.com...... id also tried to do that......Its kinda unsatisfying to edit on a Textfile and not to be able to write directly in the Cache FieldNote...... i don ́t get why it should be impossible to edit it after i create it... should be no buggy, or?

Have you tried clicking the log that you want to edit?

;o)

Yeah, sure... thats how i noticed that its not possible to edit it... there ́s exactly where my problem is... everything i try produces the message "the Field Note already exists" and the smile shakes......

Which version of Locus are you using?

Sorry Blah Blub,

I have tested all possible combinations (and found 1 strange behavior) but could not reproduce your issue.

Maybe tell us what machine and android version you are using.

But after all, I think you need some help from the master himself...

master himself ... funny :)

I see it in same way as rvheddeg ...

what I do ...

1. open cache screen

2. tap on bottom "field note" button

3. choose offline log

4. fill "Found" log

5. confirm ... cache change icon, log is visible in first "Information" tab

so till point 5, no problem right?

Then ...

6. click again on bottom "field note" button

7. you should see new dialog where is listed your log and at bottom are buttons "cancel / add". So tapping on existing log display what to do with this log. If you want just edit offline, tap again on "Store offline" or whatever you need to do

did this help?

Hail to the Master ;o)

Well it ́s pretty dumb and easy (i ́m sure most of the users won ́t have that Problem)... you just need to know what to do...

On 7. id ever click on "add", because there are no other options...... but as i do as you say... just tap on the first made log... voila... i can do whatever i want to do and it works... sry for all that hassle...... but you know, im German and if we dont have a clear order or option, we fail ;o)

Thanks for your patience and help!
