Change names and/or other properties of multiple POI at once

Is there any option in Locus to change Names and/or other properties of multiple POIs at once? I was surprised that there is an option of changing icons, but I couldn't find option to change name of multiple POIs so I had to to that manually. I was expecting such an option is a must. But maybe it is there but I couldn't see it?

Please change this ticket into Idea, if there is not such option in Locus.

Hello elmuSSo,

nope, such option do not exists.

May you give me some use-case, why should user wants to change names of more points to a single same name?

Scenario:

I was interested in a particular type of mushroom. During many trips I was pinpointing places where I encountered this mushroom. I created many points in different times with different names, because in the field I didn't have time to write proper names. Some of them were created manually, some of them by quick point add (but with a wrong point name). It is a mess, but points were meaning the same - mushroom name. After some time I realized I need to clean this mess and put all of those points into one category, and change their name to the name of the mushroom.

Basically: cleaning the mess

elmuSSo ... funny story :).

I'm sure, you are well aware that your use case is so specific. I may keep this idea as open for voting, but chances that it will be even implemented are really low, no matter how many votes you collect. I can imagine that one person from 1000 may find this rarely usable (like you), but ... sorry.

Ehh. Like always. But isn't the aim of POIs in Locus to be manageable ( editable and transferable to other categories)? For me, bulk editing is an important part of this kind of databases. With many thousands of POIs in my case...

Exactly - "like always". Don't be pessimistic. From your huge list of topics, as I see this just just fourth that is declined.

Bulk editing is usable, agree, but I was not able to find any other parameter that should be editable in bulk except icon. Arguments for a "name" as you wrote do not convince me.

Ok. thanks for feedback.

Workaround: select all those "draft" POIs, export them, delete them, use any PLAIN text editor, do your edits, import again.

If you have douzens or more, this is effective, and tools like Notepad++, linux tools (sed, awk) or alike give you power of substitutions that go way beyond what you can expect from an app.

I do not claim above is nice, but there is a tradeoff, where such workaround starts to make sense.

Just my 2c

I believe elmuSSo should be able to find an easier method over direct change of names in database over simple query. But this is probably not a topic "how to do it one time", but more "hey, why this essential feature is not in Locus" ;). Anyway if you will need to do it just once (rarely), I'm willing to help with sqlite ...
