Constant "working" screen

Jeffrey Kujan shared this problem 8 years ago

Hi there, every time I try to save a set of coordinates I get a constant "working" screen and my progress does not save. It also happens when I try to switch maps. I have to reboot the map every time.

Any ideas? Thank you

I have Locus Pro and use a Samsung Galaxy S5

Good day Jeffrey,

sorry to hear this. Hard to say what may cause it as setting a coordinates and selecting map are two, very different tasks.

Only idea I have here is to create a debug log where should be any useful information: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log

Hi there Menion, I am following up on a problem I have been having that hasn't been resolved. I will certainly try to get you guys a bug report as soon as I can. The file was too big to email but I can attempt to DropBox it when I get home.

Everytime I try to switch maps, save a waypoint, or delete a saved waypoint I get the "Working" screen. Or when I change maps, I get the "Changing Map" screen and it doesn't go away. The problem is getting worse. It went away for a while but now it seems like it is here to stay and I can't use the app. This is really bugging me because I love this app but I can't use it now.

I have attached a picture of what is happening and like I said, I can get you over a debug report later tonight.

I am running a Samsung Galaxy S5

I just downloaded Locus Free to see if I could get that to work, but the problem persists even on Locus Free. Again, constant "working" and "changing map" screens. Its like the app freezes up and I am forced to restart.

Good day Jeffrey,

so still in troubles. Hmm. What I get in mind when I read your previous post, was "it has to be something with SD card". If this happen with every operation that involve something with SD card, I really suggest to put card into PC and check it with some software on corruption.

Thanks for the response Menion

The app was downloaded to my phone's hard drive, I moved it to the SD Card and again moved it back to my phone's hard drive and the problem persisted.

Is this just my phone? Have you heard of anyone having a similar problem? All of my other apps work fine

Hello, I'm not aware of anyone with such huge problems. People with a lot of points/tracks or with huge maps, sometimes suffer by this problem - but it usually takes just a few seconds, not neverending "working".

By check of SD card, I mean not just putting app in system on SD card.

You have whole Locus directory in root of your internal memory or SD card? If you have it on SD card, then it is definitely needed to check this card in PC.

I figured out what was causing this...my points would not save and I would get this constant "working" screen only if I was connected to wifi.

Good day Jeffrey,

have to say that this is almost impossible. Have to be some coincidence , but Locus do not work with wi-fi/internet connection during saving a data to database or changing coordinates.

As I wrote few months ago, did you tried to check your SD card in home PC, if you have this possibility?

Anyway even with this complication, you still use Locus Map and always when you wants to edit coordinates, you turn off wifi connection and it helps? Really interesting.
