Solved

Hello everyone,

on my phone (Samsung GT-S5660, Android 4.0.4 CM 9.1.5-MMB) I have the problem with Locus Pro 3.0.2 that on my Dashboard the course is always displayed as zero. In the track recordings the course is recorded OK.

Many Greetings

This problem is also on a Sony Miro (ST23i, Android 4.0.4 Build 11.0.A.5.5). So I guess it's a problem in Locus Pro?

Hello Michael,

I can confirm your problem. Course works only in case, when you enable rotate of map, which is of course bad. I'll try to fix it to next Locus version.

So fixed now, will work in next version as expected.

Sorry for a troubles and thanks for report.

If there will be any problem in next version with this feature, well free to write me.

Great news, thanks a lot Menion! When do you think a new version will be released? Are there plans to have a beta test version ahead of time?

Sure, you're welcome!

Plan on release is on the end of next week. Anyway good you are aware of beta versions. It's always nice to have confirmation that problem is really fixed. Beta version will be probably today or in worst case tomorrow.

Dear Menion and Locus Team, hello Locus Users,

probably there is another problem with Dashboard and course. Yesterday I tried to use the dashboard with activated map rotation using vector and raster map. There was the effect that the triangle showing the position works fine and the direction is OK. But the value for the course that the dashboard shows is not OK :-( I was moving exactly westwards but instead of 270° the value was around 350°. On another track instead of 60° it was about 15°. Could it be that the magnetic compass value influences the dasboard? I think that my device has a very poor GPS Receiver, it probably doesn't deliver a bearing. But as mentioned the pointer on the map always shows the correct direction.

Hello Michael,

I'm checking it and I'm unable to find an issue.

Value in dashboard (course) is same values as you may see in compass screen. So you may check if both values are same. As on my screenshots below.

I hope that value in compass screen is correct. If so, correct should be also a value in dashboard.

Just keep in mind, that refresh of values in dashboard is slower. Just once per second. So you have to count with it during rotate of your device in hands etc.

Now it looks like there is another problem with Locus Pro Dashboard. I already had the feeling in the beginning that it could be the wrong course (at least for me the wrong course) that is displayed on the Dashboard: the magnetic compass direction. Then Menion's screenshots showed that the course on the Dashboard is the same as on the compass screen. But what I need is the course I'm moving.

Today I got the new 3.1(.3) release where the bug in the Dashboard was fixed. I made a test and include the screenshots below. The first image shows correctly by the moving map cursor in which direction I move, it's about 295°. But Dashboard shows 203°, the magnetic compass. Then I incidently found the setting to display the device heading (compass) on the map. The second Image is an example.

To make a long story short, for navigation purposes I would like to have the course I move on the dashboard.

I hope this comment is read because the status of the thread is already set to solved.

Many Greetings MichaelZ

Hi,

I understand you request perfectly and I was surprised, that there were missing both values - heading (where you look) and course (where you move).

I've improved possibilities of dashboard, so in next version (screenshot below)

Fantastic!

But I observed another thing today. In the present release when using internal GPS the Dashboard value course is the heading from the magnetic compass. But when selecting Bluetooth GPS Receiver the Dashboard value course seems to be the course taken from the external GPS. So that's already correct.

I also discovered some weird values in dashboard course.

In next version will be course always from GPS (BT or internal)

Heading will be defined by settings > orientation. If you will use hardware compass (first settings), it will really be angle where you point with your device, otherwise, value will be same as course (so computed from GPS)
