Hello Elie,

this is not possible with Locus API ... till now.

Are you little bit familiar with Locus API? If so, since yesterday is out completely new version. I`m now adding features into this version.

I just added support for direct calling Locus as an navigation

http://code.google.com/p/android-locu...#

So,

1. you`ll need next Locus release version (in current market version this will not work of course)

2. you may use complete locus API and call navigation directly by added function

locus.api.android.ActionTools.actionStartNavigation(Activity act, String name, double latitude, double longitude)

3. you may extract creating of valid intent from API source code and call navigation without API

HI Menion, Thanks for your reply.

If the solution will work with us, we will need 300 Licenses.

We will install your navigation application on 7" or 10" Android Tablet in 300 Cars. We have our own map in shape files. We will use the protected converter to use it with your application and we will have it as offline map in the car.

The NOC will send the destination coordinate to one of the 300 cars via 3G to your application with our offline map. Then the car will drive to those destination using your navigation application.

Dear Menion, is it true that we cannot use the navigator if we don`t have connection. the 3G connection is very expensive in our area. We have our own offline map which work with your application and we want to use your navigation feature but without online connection. Can we?

Hello Elie,

I wanted to react on email, but rather here.

You wrote, you want to use Locus as a navigation software for some of your customers. For this I just need to inform you (and this will answer also on your second question)

1. Locus primary usage is for tourist, geoaching, sport and partially GIS.

2. Voice navigation is just bonus feature, that Locus have. There is anyway no own routing algorithm and all route compute have to be done on server (not even my own, but MapQuest/Cloudmade/Yours - users may choose).

3. Currently are no plans to add support for offline routing. Even that Locus allow to display vector maps, whole system is based on MapsForge library so it depend partially on them, if will exists any offline routing with vector maps.

So generally, if you really want "only" voice navigation software that will start navigate on some coordinates you receive by SMS, it`s much better (I have to say this) to use some ́profesional navigation sotfware like sygic or navigon (both have this feature)
