Error with .mbtiles file

Hello,

I installed Locus Map (free) on my tablet and imported raster map .mbtiles from SD card. When I select the file, it displays correctly. But if I select another map (OSM as example) and then I come back on my card to import the same file, it can not appear and I get an error message: "problem with Scan.mbtiles" (= name of my file).

Do you know where can come from this?

Thank you

Good day Stéphane,

if you use "Import" feature, then "imported" map should be available in menu > Map manager > tab offline. So check please if map is available in this screen and choose it there. Otherwise best approach is to place used maps directly into Locus/maps directory. Then they will automatically appear in map manager screen.

Hope this helps, let me know if there will be any problem.

Minion thank you,

I took your advice and tested the map manager after import with two methods:

- File on the SD card

- File on the internal memory

Before I write to you I tried to go in map manager and I had a mistake but now it seems to me it work for both ...

Thank you ! I'll tell you if I possibly encounter this problem again

Hello Stéphane,

you are welcome. I forget, we have some more info here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external , so maybe you find it useful. Your method as "import" is not much usual. Seems that there is an incorrect notification when already added map is imported second time. I'll check it.

Anyway glad it works for you, enjoy summer & locus.

Hello Menion,

Thanks for these informations. I'll try the method with external map.

As you say, maybe there is an error with "double import"

Have a good summer too ;-)

Hello Menion,

I have a new question :-)

Now that I have access to my offline maps, I make a track with waypoints and export them to SD card to recover on the PC (to use a GIS). The track travels well in GPX but not the points ... And when I'm in the data manager, I have no recorded point!

They are only visible on the map and must be selected and exported one by one ... not practical.

Do you know how I can export the track WITH the plots or batch?

thank you in advance

Good day,

You recorded a track and during that, you created a few points. And now you wants to export them all at once?

This is currently not possible. You may export track as one file and selected points from a single folder into second file : http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:export

You may also create points during track recording, that will be directly attached to recorded track (so they will show/hide and also export together with track): http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:recording#track_recording_panel_and_settings ( "Add point" button).

Some multi-export or generally better support for connecting of points & tracks was already discussed here, so you may find a few topics and vote for these ideas.

Hello,

Thanks a lot Menion !

I've created points during track recording, indeed I found my points as "waypoints" in gpx file when I open it in QGIS.

But in the table I have no field corresponding with "description", "Telephone", "URL" or "E-mail" like I had when filling these fields ("Add point" button) Can I find these data in my gpx waypoints after export also?

thank you in advance

Hello,

I'm checking a code and "phone" and "url" should be correctly exported. Because GPX itself do not has support for "email", I've added it into "locus extension". Not sure if it will be useful for you, but at least export/import will keep these parameters.

Hello Menion,

Thank you for all these details.

It's a bit difficult for me because I'm French and my English is perhaps not quite understandable to explain these technical aspects ;-)

In fact I want to use Locus to test scientific tracks along which we will mark waypoints and filling out fields for land surveys. But for each point I would need 3 fields because I measure 3 parameters. That's why I wanted to use the fields "telephone" or "mail" to fill with my own values. Unfortunately there are only the "description" field that is exported in gpx: - /

So I have two solutions:

- Put my 3 values separated by dividers in the only "description" field and then try to convert them into 3 separate fields in a spreadsheet (like Excel)

- Either you have a great solution that I may enter 3 values in 3 different fields and I could have them in my gpx file in QGIS. For exemple, would it be possible to double or triple the field "description"? Or other? :-D

Thanks a lot and congratulations for your job with Locus ;-)

Hello,

no worry, I'm also not an native speaker, so ... understand :).

We already had here some ideas that are focused on collecting data, but it is important to keep in mind, that Locus is made for hike & bike activities and not as a GIS tools. So this is nice example of feature, that simply cannot be realized in Locus Map, because it's too far away from it's main use case.

Solution with all three values in description should work I think.

Don't know if you are experienced with SHP files, but maybe you may find useful Beta version of "Locus GIS" application available on Google Play. More about it is here: http://www.locusmap.eu/cz/locus-gis-android-gis-application/ . Unfortunately due to lack of time, it's almost year since I do not work on it actively, but this project is definitely not dead.

Hope this helps at least little.

Thank you for your quick reply,

I tried using "/" as separator in "description" field and it seems to work! I will try to test it on Monday on land I'll l just be outside;-)

I'll try Locus GIS when I have a moment, for now it's time for the weekend ;-)

Thnaks a lot Menion

See you later
