Geocaching tools - draw line does not show up on map

Sascha Ploss shared this problem 11 years ago
Solved

Seems like i`m unable to use the draw line feature of the geocaching tools. They simply don`t show up on the map.

Here`s what i do:

- Open the geocaching tools.

- Select the tool to draw a line

- Start and endpoint are already filled with coordinates of map center, so i change one of them

- I hit the ok button

But nothing shows up on the map. I tried various times with different coordinates, large and small distance, different colors and transparencies. Nothing worked. The draw circle tool on the other hand works. Any ideas?

I made exactly the same experience! I tried everything just as Sascha (circels are working, Lines I can`t draw - no matter how hard I try)

Tested on my HTC One X recently but also on my older Gingerbread device already back in April 2012 - so this doesn`t seem to be a bug that was recently introduced (I didn`t knew this forum back then to report it)

(Or maybe I`m just to stupid ^^)

I found the reason!

I tested with Locus 2.5.1 on Motorola Defy+ (Android 2.3.6, not rooted) with different kinds of selecting endpoints for the lines:

-Select from Map

-Use Contact address

-Favourite POI

-Projection

-GPS

Used function from Menu->GC Tools->Draw line

and

Select GC Tool from right panel

At my tests, lines allways worked.

Wait, I did one more Test and found the bug:

If you directly try to change the endpoints coordinates, it will not take effect.

Try use the edit button, input the changes, confirm and it will work.

@menion: Do we really need the edit button or could we in future use direct editing?

You`re right. When i change the coordinates with the edit button the line shows up.

Thank you for indetifying the bug!!

I think now that we know it, it would be easy to fix =)

btw: how do you draw lines from/to certain points? Is the anonter way that to open geocaching tools and input the coordinates manually?

from/to certain points I choose from map, where I can see the points.

To do this: Choose new and select a method.

thanks Druki, issue found and fixed, so edit button will not be needed (anyway it`s useful in case you want to set coordinates in different format)

Maybe the caption "new" was a little bit deceiving to me :-D
