Google Maps requests access to location data when trying to navigate to POI in Locus

Hello everyone,

if I enter e location and switch guidance on, then there is a line with arrows, showing the direction to that POI. Ok. When I tap on the guidance symbol in the upper left corner and tap on the settings symbol (the rightmost one) then I can select "Navigate". But then a message pops up telling me, that Google Maps needs access to my location. Why Google? Locus has access to that data. Any ideas?

Not an exact answer to your question but maybe a misunderstanding on your side: If you select "Navigate" usually an internet connection is necessary to calculate the route from your current locaton to the POI, so you have to provide your location info to an internet service anyway.

I write usually an internet connection is necessary as there is a special app brouter co-working with Locus which can calculate (mainly bicycle) routes offline but with routing data to be stored on the phone. I don`t want to go in details here because it is off-topic and already discussed in more detail here: http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?to...

Button "Navigate" under "3rd party apps" button directly start Google Navigation. This "Navigate" button do not start internal Locus navigation. Locus navigation is on same place, where you started "Guiding". Was this helpful?

Also as Tommi wrote, except case you use BRouter application, Locus need internet connection to navigation

Sorry for the late response. It was helpful, thanks tommi and Menion.

I didn`t realize, that this symbol with the question mark mans: "3rd party apps".
