Hard to select the checkbox of a POI or track

Mark Reidel shared this problem 5 years ago
Solved

In a folder with POIs or tracks, I can hardly hit the checkbox, because it`s so close to the scrollbar. Most of the time, instead of checking the checkbox, the scrollbar gets activated and I scroll down instead of selecting a POI. Having the checkbox a bit further left or even at the left side would fix the problem. As it is, I don`t have small hands, but even my wife hits the scrollbar by accident very often.

+1

because we will find this scrollbar/checkbox combination also in some other places...

I also struggle with this.

The only way is to wait a short time, until the scroll bar disappears

and then click the checkbox. But it is annoying.

hmm only what I can do, is to move scroll bar to left side. Should this solve these problems?

Don`t know if the right side (the checkboxes) are free to use, while the slider on left is active. Let`s try :)

yes they`re. i was just playing with it a while ago. It`s just little bit weird, when you want to scroll whole list down, that you have to with your finger go on opposite side of display to grab slider ...

maybe you can add this in one sceen in the next testversion. eg in the "online maps" screen (Settings -> Map advanced -> Online maps) It`s a looong list (if you have maptweak and some other custom maps.

As for the POI-list, it might alternatively be a good idea to be able to click on the POI-icon to select the checkbox. Similar to how you select a whole folder of POIs right now.

As for a general solution, scrollbar on the left side sounds kinda weird to me, but might be worth a try. Would it be possible to have a gesture-control for selecting? Like swiping left to right selects it? Not gonna work if the gesture is used for anything else in the screen though :- Just ideas...

I agree with Mark.

The scrollbar on the left is very strange. It has been on the right since beginning of windows.

I would keep it on the right also, but either moved the checkbox slightly or allow to select by icon.

I just noticed that in the settings, the space between checkboxes and the scrollbar is wider, so you don`t accidentally hit the scrollbar.

I tested scroll bar on a right and yes, it`s not a good solution :)

@mark: there is one main difference. If you do not noticed, then if you have in folder more then 100 points/tracks, scrollbar change to improved version that allow scroll much faster. And this scroll bar cause problems.

So I see few solutions

1. disable this fast scrolling - it`s anyway useful sometimes

2. increase space between border and checkbox - possible, but space mainly in points screen is very precious. On small devices it`s already below limit

3. change design of this fast scroll bar. So it should stay closer to border. This is what I want to try tomorrow, but I`m not sure if it`s possible.

hmm I had to test it and ... solved :) (probably)

you`ll see in next version. At least on my device with A4.1, it`s work now much better. After scroll, you may tap where-ever you want, except small blue button

so previously there were blue slider and thin scroll line. Both were active so you were not able to tap anywhere on button on line

now line is not visible and active is only button!! I think it`s .. fine now :)

this looks logical - hope it works with all androids (custom roms...)
