Hill shading crash

Solved

Hi, I updated to version 3.16 Locus Pro, and I have many crashes when

hill shading is activated. Is there a way to send you crash logs, or

help in some way? Can I install an older version (apk?) until the

problem is fixed?

Thanks!

Good day,

sorry to hear about such troubles. May you please try to create a log by this method: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log , thank you!

Hi,

Unfortunately, nothing happens when I confirm « take bug report ». I have Android 4.1.2, non rooted. When Locus crashes, the crash alert disappears immediately, I can’t click the « report » button.

Hmm, did you tried a method with application CatLog? It may be used without a problems on device with 4.1.2 Android if I remember correctly.

I think the device should be rooted for this, or I need to run an adb command to change permissions… Is there a way to run that adb command without installing the Android SDK, JDK and all this hell on my Mac? A bit overkill to send a crash log :(

Ah I've remembered incorrectly, sorry. Seems that 4.1.2 already require root for such simple thing like log.

What happen when app crash? Do you see some Android dialog with "send report" button? This is default Android behavior and if you include some text into message, I should be able to find a log you send. Anyway I'm not sure since it works in this way. Unfortunately without a log, I'm unable to do anything here.

The crash dialog is shown, but disappears before I can click the « send report » button.

Maybe I can send you my srtm files, and my settings files? Locus crashes immediately when launched, 100% reproducible, unless if I remove the srtm files.

The srtm come from http://viewfinderpanoramas.org/Coverage%20map%20viewfinderpanoramas_org3.htm, for french Alps. And I am using offline OSM vector maps.

Hmm complicated. Whatever you can send me, I may test it. Anyway if problem won't be in SRTM files, then it may be caused by algorithm inside application and without log, it won't be possible to fix it. Shading is independent on a map source so if you send me your SRTM files, I can check it with own vector map. Thanks.

Hi,

Here is the contents of Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro:

http://dl.free.fr/vWUJTuScT

Then the contents of the Locus folder (except srtm, graphHopper and mapsVector):

http://dl.free.fr/pogeYcKNS

And finally the Locus/data/srtm files:

http://dl.free.fr/kL7g4UfsD

I really hope will be able to fix the problem! Locus is wonderful with offline OSM and hill shading :-)

Kind regards

Jérôme Seydoux

Good day,

unfortunately I'm little bit desperate from this problem. Thanks for a data, I've copied your SRTM data to my own device. Rest of files is not needed. I've spend around 10 minus by browsing over France and around in zoom levels 9 and 10, but absolutely no issue at all. Quite slow when map seen for the first time, but no crashes.

So I'm sorry, but it looks like some problem with internal generator of shading, not a data itself. What I may suggest, is to

a) try to use only smaller 3'' files, not a huge 1'' SRTM files as I'm aware of some smaller issue in Locus that may cause crashes on older devices

b) wait on next Locus version that will be probably published tomorrow

c) create a log by any method with new version if a) or b) won't help, as I do not see any other option, or

d) sorry, don't use shading ...

Thanks for understanding and sorry for a troubles.

Hi,

Version 3.16 was crashing at startup when displaying the last position; version 3.16.1 starts normally, and I have not yet had any crash, so the problem is probably fixed :-)

Many thanks for this great app!

Kind regards
