Hi Jafar,

could you please describe in detail how you "imported" the kml file? And please share the kml file here so that we could test it.

can I get ur email address it is secure data . 1 adopted following procedure

1. Firstly I had kmz file of ground mapsheets of 274 MB. I added this kmz file in to

mnt/sd card/locus/maps folder in locus , and then from import data icon I pressed load , and then selected the kmz file and tried both options of (only display and show on map after import) but file couldn't be loaded

2. I opened this kmz file with google earth, and saved this file as kml file it reduced to 1.24 MB , adopted same procedure to load but couldn't,

3. I also copied this kml file to map items folder and then tried to open it from items bar but unsuccessful

dear michal I will be grateful if u pls give me ur e amail address so that I can send u both kmz and kml files .

Hi Jafar, the KML you sent is empty - it just contains links to map images that don't exist (try to open it in Google Earth). As for the KMZ file, it exceeds Locus's limit of such data processing - it's too big.

As for the other query - Locus merges maps automatically - the maps have to be of the same file type, generated by the same machine (Locus at best) and stored in one folder

Conversion of a KML/KMZ file for offline use"

dear michal I read this article in manual, I unzipped my kmz file of 274 MB, it produced one doc.kml file and folder of FILES containing another image files(1024 image files),

Please Jafar, you CAN'T! This file is too huge! Recommended limit for KMZ maps is somewhere around 30, max 50 MB. More is deadly for most of devices. Sorry, but this is how Locus works for now.

whats the average volume (KB) of a single 1024x1024 image ?

Is it useful information (size of single tile)? I think that there are two options, one is to separate KMZ into smaller files. It should help, but it won't still be perfect. You will have to manually enable separated files and in the end, when you enable them all, it will be same as loading this one huge file. A lot better is second solution that suggested gynta - converting to SQLite.

Do you have any guys any idea how to do it? I know only application mapc2mapc that should probably do it ( http://www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping/help/over.html ), but for one-time action like this, there is a "problem" as app is paid. So any other suggestion?

image is TIF format and its size varies between 300 kb to 500 kb.

one is to separate KMZ into smaller files. ( menion how it can be possible ), is there any software avalible ?

2. gynta bro do u know any converter which can change the format of file from kmz to SQLite , I searched but yet not successful.

guys pl comment
