Locus Map Pro - voice guidance in navigation mode (bicycle) always fades to zero

ringen00 shared this problem 6 years ago
Solved

Hello!

The voice guidance in navigation mode (bicycle) always fades to zero after some time. First it starts that the voice only reaches 'in 50 meters', later 'in 50', and finally there is no voice guidance at all! Sometimes it recovers later even from a former hopeless state though...

I'm experiencing this only in bicycle mode. Calculation is done via BRouter.

I created the route with locus (partly calculation with BRouter, partly changing points and recalculation with BRouter).

Good day ringen00,

thank for a creating bug report here. I noticed your post also on our older forum, anyway I firstly try to solve all issues here on help desk before moving to forum, which sometimes takes some time ...

Anyway to your problem. By "fades to zero", you mean that volume is lower and lower or that app say less and less words? You are using Text-To-Speed to say navigation announcements? Are you during navigation listening some music? Does this happen ( fading ) immediately from start of navigation?

Thanks for answers,

Menion

Thanks your quick reply! Very much appreciated :-)

The audio consists of less and less words until it is completely gone.

After starting locus it always works for some time nicely...

Yes, I'm using Text-To-Speech (Acapela, but I don't think the problem is located here). When, after the audio is gone, I'm checking the guidance settings (where one can choose the voice) and reselect the voice I do not hear the sample audio although it says 'process completed successfully' (or similar).

I'm not listening to music at the same time. But I guess the audio output of my device is completely blocked at that time (will try to be able to confirm this later). Blocked until I shut down locus completely and restart it again. Then the voice guidance works nicely for some time.

Yesterday I had the impression that it happens at the same waypoint of a route - could be coincidence though.

In audio channel I use 'music' (can choose between 'music' and 'notification' there) because that seemed to work better in my car (Bluetooth) when listening to music simultaneous.

But the audio problem happens when I'm cycling having the device strapped around by arm.

I'm using tasker to track with locus via intent (locally) and live tracking to GPSies simultaneously while navigating. I'm expecting sounds from tasker as well (e.g. announcing the time every hour) while on the go (as I said I'm just guessing that my audio is completely frozen).

I really hope I can help because I'm absolutely interested in this feature!

Hello,

thank you for a precise description. This is really interesting, never read about such problems before.

If possible, we plan to publish new version next week probably in Wednesday. Try it as now. If same problem happen, try it again without any possible disturbing, so in this case without active tasker. And if same problem still happen, I'll prepare for you special version that will hopefully tell us more by writing some information about state of TTS into logs, possible?

(or if you want to speed this up, you may try latest public Beta version, where is already partially changed code around TTS system : http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:about:free_beta_testing )

Thanks,

Menion

Will the beta be automatically updated through playstore?

Otherwise I'll wait for the official version...

Hi Menion!

I've been inline skating the roads in my area now quite a while and come to the conclusion that I'd urgently would need a reliable system to avoid rough road surfaces when planning a route with locus.

I therefore now created to folders (under tracks) to collect good and bad road surface tracks. To 'collect' them I see no other way than to roll them first (more or less :-) ).

Before planning a new route for inline skating I now just have to make the tracks from the folder 'bad surface' visible and am able to see every 'bad road' on the map just by looking at the colour of the track (I've chosen red crosses). The Start and Stop icons of the tracks are a bit unnecessary though...

- Do you see any other option for my purpose? Maybe with a map overlay?

Good day ringen00,

did you already tried new version from Google Play? I'm curious about this problem.

Just please keep in mind, if there will be any problem that will need special app version and you will wants to invest some more time into it, I'm leaving for 2weeks vacation, so it will have to wait on my return. Anyway I really hope it won't be necessary :). Thanks for understanding.
