merge tracks - how can I set the order of trackparts?

Completed

Hi Forum,

I tried to create a new tour by using different track parts of two tracks.

I also tried to compled missing track parts by using the add new rout funktion.

Therefore I cut two tracks into the parts I needed and created the missing track parts by adding new routs.

After that I renamed the track parts in order I`d like to merge them, for example Trackpart 1 to 4 in order 1 to 4.

When I try to merge them locus put the parts together in a way I can`t control, for example 1-4-3-2 instead of 1-2-3-4.

Is there a way to control the sequence?

Hi,

for merging tracks, Locus use very simple internal logic. it sorts all tracks you want to merge, by create time of the first point. Thanks to this, tracks should be connected in order, they were recorded.

For you, this do not work correctly?

Hi Menion,

merging Tracks is useful for me to create a new tour from different parts of tracks I have already tracked myself, downloaded from Internet or created myself by adding a rout.

With your hint I have created a new first Startpoint for each Part of the Track in that order I liked to merge the trackparts - I already tried this and ist works, but I think this is a workarround.

(It would be better, if I could choose an endpoint and then a startpoint to show locus, where to merge the trackparts, no matter when the track was createt.

After merging the trackparts it would be top, if Locus cold recalculate the duration of a merged track by input of an average Speed.)

For merging tracks to a new tour some trackparts may have the wrong direction.

Is there a way to change the direction of a track and save this as a seperate track?

I`m changing your question to "Idea" and marking it as implemented. In next version will be ability to sort tracks

Hi Menion,

that`s great, thanks a lot!

But some trackparts may have the wrong direction.

Is there a way to change the direction of a trackpart (Change Startpoint to Endpoint and vice versa)?

Or simply ignore the direction and merge with gaps - is there a Problem with the guiding Function?

Hmm, this is a problem. For guiding it`s problem as well, because Locus will just continue in order, in which single points are added to final track.

Hard to say how to solve this ...

Have to think about it

I`ve got at home a seperate PC Software for planning tours.

There is a seperate function for changing direction of a track.

but I would like to do it in Locus...

hmm make a sense to change direction permanently or just for a merging? Because I see no usage for "Permanent change" when there is possibility to guide in opposite direction .. so just for merge should be fine?

I usually work step by step and safe the result of each step.

First build the parts of the new track, then merge - this works this way on QuoVadis or Mapsource.

If I don`t need the step Changing Direction, it should be fine too...

By the way, I never had a GPS Software on my mobile, with the possibilities Locus offers! Very Big smile!

I don`t think a permanent change is useful. Still the original tracks may be important for the user, not only the composed one.

I`m probably crazy ... added also possibility to invert direction before merge ;)

no, you`re for sure not crazy but you are thinking strictly logical.

That`s not crasy, makes "professional" software like Garmin look like fool!

This is a function I only had on my PC at home up to now, which I used for advanced tour planning e.g. transalp biking - now it`s available on my tablet PC on the camping site. Looking forward to see, how it works...

Many thanks and greetings from Ingolstadt

Crazy is exactly what you wrote ... you had this only on your PC, because mobile devices usually contain just basic features :)

Anyway, if you`ll be interested, here is fresh version that contain this feature http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?to... , so I`ll be glad for some feedback before this appear in public

State of the art mobile devices have more processing power than a PC few years ago, therefore it`s absolutely justified to implement such stuff!

Thank you.

...not crazy, it`s even easy!

I chose exactly the situation, which made me post this treat:

cut my two tracks into the pieces I needed,

created by adding new rout the parts of the track, that missed,

renamed the parts in order I`d like to merge them,

marked the tracks in explorer,

and chose the function merge tracks,

sorted them by name,

changed the direction arrow if necessary,

and let Locus merge the track parts!

Works easily, no explanation or manual necessary - if you know what to do!

It took me about 10 minutes, and I did it on my Smartphone, not tablet PC. No more workarround.

Don`t know if others use this, I`m going to...

It`s perfect for preparing my mountainbike-tours in the evening bevore ride when we changed the plan or the place because of the weather or other circumstances or on a longer holiday in the alps!

Perfect work!!!
