OpenMaps.eu vs OpenAndroMaps vs LoMaps

Can anyone tell me about the quality/detail of http://openmaps.eu/mapsforgedownload as compared to the openadromaps.org?

Lomaps are made based on openadromaps ?

I do not want to install 3 different maps on locus if their source is the same.

Which of these are latest/more detail ?

Thank you

Hello Marius,

honestly I don't use maps OpenMaps.eu nor OpenAndroMaps. However it seems that OpenMaps.eu are generated from the same source as LoMaps and also as OpenAndroMaps. All these maps use (mainly) OpenStreetMap data for generation the offline map.

All these maps are vector maps and are rendered directly on your device. For this reason you can zoom-in into very detailed street level. The difference is only which elements are included in the map. But from my opinion are the maps almost the same. What is more important are the themes for vector map that influence the appearance of the map.

As I know OAM has better support for MTB trails, with LoMaps you get offline POIdb and Offline address search. Maybe other users from community can give better view.

Thank you

Petr

Thanks Petr,

I saw all of them have the same OSM source..but at least for Romania, it seems openmaps.eu has the most detailed POis and mountain trails/paths. I compared the same mountain area with all 3 of them and openmaps had more trails with different colours and even with the local mountain sign codes(red cross, blue triangle etc.)

Can anyone in Europe confirm my findings?

A plus for Lomaps is indeed offline POIdb and Offline address search.

The them best aligned with OpenAndro Maps is the elevate and elements theme. Have you used them for the OAM maps ?

I always use the Elevate LE for OpenAndroMaps AND also working for Openmaps.eu

My question is which of these 3 maps contain more detail/more trails, points etc.. for an european country

My bet till now is openmaps.eu (at least for my country), but I hope other users can give me their opinion :)

You may try Elements Theme instead of Elevate, which gives most details (up to the level of overcrowding, as Tobias says)

Hi Marius,

pls. compare yourself. What is concerning: openmaps.eu show meadows where 2016 Google Earth shows forests, as OAM does.

Cheers

Your attached openmaps.jpg image is a Garmin map. I attached some Openmaps mapsforge screnshots (Romania-Brasov, Austria-Rax, Hungary-Dobogoko).

Openmaps maps and rendertheme:

- All signs are show on the path. (One path but more signs)

- Hiking route highlight red color or highlight with color of signs (optional)

- The highlight is under the road. It looks more like the type of road (path, track, macadam, asphalt)

Available here the Openmaps mapsforge maplegend: http://openmaps.eu/renderthemes/maplegend_EN.pdf

I see the difference between your two. But I also see a big difference between your OAM screenshot and mine. You seem to use a different theme.

I downloaded the latest from OAM and checked with Cruiser.

See attached.

the difference in theming was because of garmin basecamp....OAM does not have .typ for theme, but openmap has TYP for garmin..

OK..but letting aside the themes I was wandering which one has the most trails/points/descriptions..

But I guess that no other user of Locus has yet used openmaps.eu maps..and that is why no one comments from experience

Thank you again Michael for the help

Hi Marius, while doing other testing I saw this map (latest OAM maps and Ele* themes): waymarks nicely on the map.
