Big inconsistency in icons when moving point between categories
PROBLEM 1:
Point is not getting a right icon, when moved to a category, which already has a point with the identical name.
HOW TO RECREATE:
1. Create a random point in random category with a particular name (eg: "test").
This category needs to have some icon set.
2. Create a new point in a different category, without set icon, but with the same name (eg: "test")
3. Edit the second point, and change its Folder/Category to a Category from point 1. (basically, move point from category 2. to 1.)
4. You will now get a question "Point with same name is already in database.Overwrite?"
Now, press [Ignore]
5. A second point will now sit in a target category, but will still have an old icon. But this icon was not set! Points without set icons, should inherit icon from the category in which they currently are.
PROBLEM 2: ( this occurs ONLY when we are copying the point with a same name and clicking Ignore )
- When the new point HAS an icon explicitly set ...
- And you are trying to move it to a different category (which already has point with same name) ...
- When you click on that different category/folder to choose it ...
"Name & Icon" icon is showing an icon of that category. This icon is wrong, because what will happen is: this point will preserve its own icon, and will not inherit an icon from a target category.
PROBLEM 3: ( this occurs ONLY when we are copying the point with a unique name)
- When the new point HAS an icon set ...
- And when this point has an unique name ...
- And you are trying to move it to a different category
- When you click on that different category/folder to choose it ...
"Name & Icon" icon is showing an icon of that category, and in reality it will really inherits this icon after moving to that category. This is wrong, because this point has its own icon, so it should preserve it after moving to a different category. Only points without explicitly set icons, should inherit it from their current category.
I didn`t check how this behaves when using "Copy to" operation. I also saw that you are planning to add "Move to" operation - so during adding that, bear in mind the above problems.

to be true, I was testing it (all three problems) and both ends on my inability to follow your progress. I expected to get same issue as you, but I always had correct (expected) icon in the end ...
Anyway I was just discuss something with gynta, and then fixing some small problems around icons, so please check next test or public version, maybe this will help on this problem also

Unfortunately. PROBLEM 1 is still occurring in newsest Locus. I have a new ROM, so its not a matter of ROM. If you can`t recreate my progress that means I put a bad instructions or you are doing something wrong.
Gynta, how about you? Are you getting my results? I will think about recording videos of these.

Recording a videoclip is a very good idea - In this case and in many other situations to report a problem easily and quickly.

hmm thanks, but I still don`t understand. This is intent, not a bug
if point have own custom icon, then this icon should be attached to point in all cases. But if point do not have own icon, so it take icon from current folder, it also change if you change folder of this point. I`m sure this make sense

Do you think it is good that moved point is disappearing? User wants to move it, not to move it and deselect it. Its a hassle to go to Points, find it and reselect it again.

Because I don`t have intention to hide it. Move = move. It is not Move and hide.
Everyone have different needs, why would Locus decide for me if want to hide it or not? I chose Move, if I want to Move and hide I will do that manually.
You are asking me why. Maybe I`m cleaning my points database and I want to to still have it visible to decide if it really fits into a new category. Or maybe I made a mistake when riding on a bike, and now I want to quickly move that point to the right category (when I still remember that I made a mistake), but I want to still have it on a screen, because I need that point visible.
