Poll GPS every ______ min (to improve battery life)

Many sports and activities would benefit from better battery life, especially backpacking. Multi day trips make it difficult to use Locus long term because the GPS would constantly be running.

It would be great if we had an option to "Poll GPS every _______ minutes" while track recording. Locus would then only use the GPS at the specified times to get the information it needs and then plot a new point.

It could even be marketed as a battery saving feature. Imagine someone arriving at the trail head with only 20% battery after working all day. Instead of turning Locus off they could still record a track but set it to only use the GPS every 5 min. It wouldn't be as accurate but it would still be very useful. For the slower sports people may not even notice the difference. For hiking and backpacking it may not affect the track much at all.

Most of my backpacking buddies don't bother to record their trips because of battery issues. They have to resort to manually plotting a couple waypoints over a few days. How nice if they could track record like everyone else and not have to worry about a dead battery at the end of the day.

Maybe you can already do this - see this topic.

You can use internal GPS auto on/off with your desired intervall

Hi Jonathan,

it is as Andrew and Christian have written. Moreover, the feature has been recently tested on a 6 hours hike - GPS auto on/off kept Locus in standby (track recording on) and overall wakelock time took just 30 minutes.
