Problem with downloading maps for offline use

Hello,
I tried several times to download a map from mapquest to my Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, and after a few hundred tiles the process stops and it says 'check the internet connection' or 'check the capacitiy of SD-card'. So far I tried at least 5 different empty SD-cards with different sizes as well as the local storage. The internet connection also works without problems.
Do you have any idea what else I can try? Thanks!

I tried it with my smartphone (Samsung galaxy s3 mini, android 4.1.2) and with a tablet (Samsung sm-p605, android 4.4.2).

i made a test in area of south germany and i get maps of mapquest
classic: only ZL 14
sat: ZL1-13
hybrid: ZL 1-13
classic open: ZL 1-10
so open advanced settings before you start download and deselect checkboxes with higher ZL´s as map is in onlinemap available. You see result (map or no map) in map preview!
If ZL is checked which is not available you get this error message after locus has downloaded available map tiles of lower zoomlevels.
It do not depend on internet connection or SD
