Double click to hide panels

Gerhard Silbermann shared this idea 10 years ago

I just installed version 2.11.0 on my Samsung S3 mini. All works fine, but the right panel which can be switched on for some seconds can not switched off by a double click at once. This worked on my S3 mini with the prior version.

Is this a bug?

I thougt the old version did this, but it is not tru! Also the old version didn`t do it.

But it would be a great feature, Locus should add this feature.

So you have to edit this topic and a admin has to change this to an idea.

OR

You add a new topic with this idea and a admin close this problem.

Hmm for hiding right panel is settings where you may set number of seconds ...

If you want this features, I may change it to an idea and wait if more people will be also interested in this feature.

I think this would be a very very helpful feature, I think everybody must like it to have. You can set the time from 5 to 20 and more seconds. But in many cases 5 is too short, 20 too long.

With a double click to set it on and with another to set it off again would be very nice.

I hope many useres will want it now!!

+1

Today (on a city trip) this was required very often.

And i set my "hide panels" to 8 seconds - but 8 seconds can be very looong time.

I`m not a programmer but it does not sound very complicated:

Double tap -> show panel

oh, panel allready there?

so hide panel!

But similar feature has already been there and I have been using it for ages !

In the map settings:

hide upper panel,

hide bottom panel,

hide right panel after inactivity,

hiding menu timeout - 10s

(The wording may not be exact - I am using Czech version and I am too lazy to switch to English now.)

After 10 seconds of inactivity all the panels are hidden and the whole display area is full of map. After a doubleclick all panels appear ! :-)

Celda, the discussion is about hiding the panels with double tap!

I know.

But as for appearing the panel: it is exactly, what you want (appears after a doubleclick),

as for hiding the panel: I realise the slight difference - in "my mode" the panel diappears 10 s after I finish working with the display, in "your mode" you must doubleclick again. However I don`t see any big difference - showing the panel 10s longer than necessary doesn`t play any role. Maybe your mode can be usefull if you have some time period when you use the panel more intensively but with pauses longer than 10s.

I don`t care for this topic. The only reason I got involved is my curiosity what the heck is the difference between what you can set now and what you want Menion to programme. Do you really hate those 10s before the panel disappears itself so much or what ? Why should you doubleclick again to achieve what is going to happen in 10s automatically anyway ?

I know that every user can have his/her own priorities but this appears to me as a minor detail dragging Menion away from other important improvements. :-o Sorry ! :-)

you`re welcome. I think that this behavior do not disturb anyone and works quite well. I just set (for myself) timeout to hiding panels 60s and when I want to hide them immediately, then ... nice :)
