street names on vector maps on 5.3 inch smaller than on 4.3 screen

Hi,

I bought "LocusPro" + "addon Vector maps" for my samsung galaxy s2, works really well. Because the street names are quite small in general and to make it easier for my father to use the Locus maps, I bought for him a Samsung Note with the big 5.3 inch screen and "LocusPro" + "addon Vector maps" as well.

Problem now is that whatever I do all the identical street names etc. in the same vector maps (Bavaria/Germany) are definitely bigger and easier to read on my 4.3 inch screen than on my fathers 5.3 inch screen. How is this possible? Is there anything I can do that the street names are at least as big as on my galaxy s2 - even though they should be bigger?

Hello Andreas,

nice question and simple answer:

Phones have different screen sizes. But this does not mean that all phones display same area (of map for example). You have to compute with two values screen size and density. Density say, how much pixels will be displayed on defined area. Samsung Note, have huge display and also huge density (285 pixels per inch), this mean that is on 1cm^2 display much more information then SGS2 ("only" 217 pixels per inch). This mean, map is smaller on your new Note then on SGS2

for this, I think exist two solutions. Locus itself cannot now define size of texts on vector maps but you can check menu > settings > map > Resolution of maps and set Scale resolution of values for example 1.5 (test by yourself). This will scale all maps in locus.

Second solution should be use any program that change density of display like this https://market.android.com/details?id.... This anyway affect whole your system and that`s probably unwanted effect

I got a Samsung Galaxy Note myself for Christmas and use the Locus map scaling Menion suggests above. Works perfectly!

Hi Menion,

As you suggested, all I had to do was to activate "Resolution of maps" (was deactivated), that was the main thing, Scale resolution itself was not so important, so after some tries, I put it back to the already preset 2.0 and the street names are still much bigger now.

thank you very much for your helpful and quick answer, my father had birthday today and he was really happy.
