transfer vector maps from pc

Thibaud Taudin Chabot shared this problem 11 years ago
Solved

I downloaded and installed Locus Pro on my Galaxy Nexus (android 4.2). Runs nice without problems.

I downloaded a few vector maps to my pc.

Now I want to copy those vectormaps to my nexus in folder LocusmapsVector. So I hooked up my nexus to my pc and in explorer I see all files on my nexus, but not the folder Locus.

How can? What am I doing wrong?

Hi Thibaud,

I have also Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.2 and everything works fine.

When you hook up the phone to PC, then Locus folder is placed:

My Cumputer > Galaxy Nexus > Internal Storage > Locus

Could you check this folder, please?

I assume that Locus is succesfully installed on your phone and you also installed proper drivers for Glaxy Nexus or Samsung Kies SW.

That is what I did.

My Computer > Galaxy Nexus > Internal Storage > Locus is not shown.

My Computer > Galaxy Nexus > Internal Storage has many folders, but the Locus folder is not visible. How can? I also tried to find it by using the search function.

Locus works fine on my nexus.

Does the nexus need additional drivers with Windows 7?

Hi ,

..strange. Sometimes occurs situation that new ROM create different path to SDCARD (in this case emulated) but this situation seems to be little bit different.

Please try to find the Locus directory directly on Galaxy nexus.

- Install some file manager (e.g. ES File Explorer, File manager)

- Run it and go to the highest (root) directory

- Use search function and try to find “Locus”

By the way there is one way how to add vector maps into Locus:

- Copy your vector maps anywhere to your Galaxy Nexus

- Run Locus and open Map Manager, tab vector

- Select icon “Add directory” (second icon in top action bar)

- Chose directory where you copy vector maps in previous step

- Locus joins this directory as folder with vector maps. So there isn’t need to copy maps to the Locus/vectorMaps directory.

The MTP protocol that windows uses to communicate with Android devices (since ICS I believe) is notoriously buggy and very unreliable. Quite often and very randomly, directories show up incomplete on the PC, or not at all. It will depend on your phone and on the specific ROM you are using and on the USB drivers on Windows 7 and on the moon phase. Most people have no problem at all, but some (like me) simply can not reliably use MTP data transfer.

Solutions might involve updating your windows usb drivers or switching your phone to the older USB mass storage mode (if the ROM supports it). You might also use completely different means of file transfer like for example

"samba filesharing" to mount android shares on windows or "Solid Explorer" or "ES File Explorer" to mount windows shares on android.

Fortunately, none of this is a Locus problem :).
