Where are finished tracks stored? Re-load previous tracks?

Peter shared this question 9 years ago
Answered

Assume I logged successfully a track (under Android 4.4.2).

After exiting Locus the track must be stored somewhere in a file.

I want to copy this file (through USB cable) to PC and edit it over there with a Track editing software.

But where exactly (in which directory + file) is the track stored?

How many independent tracks can be stored?

Assume I want to re-view previous tracks: How can I list all locally stored tracks and re-load one of them into a map?

Thank you

Peter

tracks are stored in a database.

if you want copy (or share), you have to "export" the track.

Ok, thank you.

Meanwhile I found the menu in

More--->"Share & Export data"

But it exports only the current point in current map.

I recorded a track a week ago. The current map does not show the track any more.

How can I reload the old track?

Or is the track wiped meanwhile?

Can I export only the last track?

Hello Peter,

all of your saved tracks you can see in "Data" - "Tracks". There is a list of your tracks in case you saved them after you stopped "Track record" function. Here you can see the track screen http://support.locusmap.eu/hc/en-us/articles/200092822-Tracks-screen

In this screen you can show, edit, export and import all your tracks. Not only current track.

After you stop "Track record" function you are ask for track save. So, if you saved every your tracks, you will see these tracks in list described above in the text.

You can export any saved tracks you want. Simply find your track in track category and choose it by tick. You can work with this track with helps of bottom panel.

Here is a method how to export track http://support.locusmap.eu/hc/en-us/articles/200108321-How-to-export-track

Hi Peter.

You can set AUTOexport and choose a type (gpx,kml...) too.

So after stop record you will find your track in YOUR folder.

Where that tracks realy are? Directory locus-data-tracks

doesnot exist. There are some files in Locus-data-database, but not separate

tracks files (what is filename extension?).

I want to know how many space from memory is occupied with it - eventually copy

to sd card. I have no idea about how much data will be in memory e.g. per year with some 1000 hours of tracks - (plus some waypoints with foto).

Hello Oto,

all tracks are really stored in Locus/data/database/dbTracks.db file. Data are stored in SQLite database, not in plain readable text file.

A related question.

I have tried to move Locus to sd-card, and recorded som tracks then. Then moved it back to internal memory and started to record tracks again.

can I find the old tracks?

Just for export, or eventually merge the two databases.

I cant find the file dbTracks.db

Good day Erik,

place where track database is stored may be found in main menu > About application > About application > first tab > "working dir" parameter at bottom.

Today I logged a track in locus, but now I can't find it. I started the track recording on my watch and also stopped the recording there (by pressing the big red button with a square inside). I got a notification saying something like "track saved" on my phone. But the track is not listed under "tracks" in the app. Where can I find it?

Hello Kasper,

when you record a track in Locus Map app, you always use a "recording" profile. In this profile is defined, where new track will be stored upon save, By default is defined "last used", so app should store new recorded tracks to group, where also previous track was stored.
