Worked Locus shut down when the screen off - on strong smartphone : (

Hi!

I have a problem. Locus running in the background (recording charts parameters 3m / 3s) from time to time turns off and pauses recording. On average, every 1.5 hours. I have Huawei P8 - 8 cores and 3GB of memory - half free. Smartphone works on performance preset. I have a fresh system, with only a few stock applications - most disabled, or with extinguished notifications.

Privileged locus at all places in the system settings: let him run when the screen off, I gave him system process status, have allowed to manage the lock screen, given priority on displaying notifications, I set it in the exceptions in the optimization. At last, I gave him a padlock on the screen with applications open list, because I afraid about close it by accident. Nothing helps. Also contacted the manufacturer of the phone via the Internet and telephone, and .. nothing - says me it's not their fault.

Locus is for me the most important application, I use ther in work and if I forced to, I'm it can change my phone to another : ( What to do? How to check where is the problem? Help!

Good day khuuhkrr,

such topics are usually my small nightmares as they are really really hard to solve. So I usually waits a while with big hope, that users write something like "well, after restart all works fine". Seems not to be this case.

In Android exists few techniques, that developers may use to keep it's applications alive in all possible cases. And mainly if you use any service like track recording, Locus use them all. At least all I was able to find.

Mainly during track recording, when you see a recording icon in system bar, Locus use technique called "Wake lock", which should really keep Locus alive. On such powerful device, there should be no problems at all.

In case, any problem happen, I usually suggest to search for any other application (some 3rd party tool), that may cause this. Like some memory optimizers, battery monitors, or similar applications, that may to apply own logic to save device resources (battery, CPU usage, ...).

Manufacturer is most probably not guilty (not sure anyway how huge changes they made in stock Android anyway).

As I wrote at start, here is really hard to say where may be a problem. Did you tried any other application for record a track? Like MyTracks, GPS Tracker or any other? Just to test if it has same problems or if this is really just a Locus. In worst case, you may try to create a log immediately after you notice that Locus were "killed". In log may be some information why this happen, but it's not perfect method, as usually there is no useful info.

Understand. I'm really worried, I won't be able to help here.

You may try to create a log with this method right after Locus will be terminated: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log , but in such cases, in log is usually only information "Locus was terminated" and nothing more.

So I'm sorry, seems you will have to use different application on your device. Thanks for understanding.

Hello, thank you for a log. Unfortunately in log is "CatLog" application complain that "Cannot obtain root". This means that you probably used method from our manual usable only for rooted devices. In your case is needed to use first method in manual. Thank you

Hey!

I did a test with Geo Tracker and all its fine, system not killed this application. GT works 7h, until exhausted battery. With polish road navigation "Rysiek" also everything is ok. Locus still close after 1:30h working : ( If I find some free time, I try make a log. Greetings and sweet dreams ; )

Good day guys,

quite old, unsolved topic.

From what I remember from various discussions and similar topics, Huawei had really strong battery-saver system that killed most of apps ( do not know what developer of GT do differently ), that was anyway changed in any of ROM updates. At least we do no more receive Huawei-specific bug reports with this problem.

Hope that latest versions works fine for you without this issue.
