Android, image descriptions not saved

I create a New point - add image attachement - take photo with cell phone camera - click the pen icon and edit image description (the free text field) - go back to point edit form - click save. The image description is not saved. All other edits are saved.

While the point form is open (before clicking save) the edited image description displays correctly when I click the image. However, always after clicking save, the edited description is discarded.

This feature worked before. Please advice how to get it working again. I already lost a lot of data doing field work and assuming it works.
