Locus Pro 3.1.3 on blackberry Z10

Jo Dewaele shared this problem 10 years ago
Not a Problem

Dear,

I have installed Locus Free on Blackberry Z10 and it runs without issues.

I have now upgraded to Locus Pro 3.1.3 and it fails installing:

" Additional data required" - "Download" - "Loading" - "Unknown problem - problem with internet connection" and "Action can not be done now. Try again later! Error:1811, 1811"

Any suggestion about cause?

(Locus Free still runs)

Kind regards,

Jo.

Good day,

may you please explain to me, how works control of license and communication with Google Play on Blackberry device? Because error you see, is information that Locus is unable to connect to Google Play application.

Anyway because you probably purchased Locus over Google Play, it's also required to have Google Play installed on your device.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I used "snap" to install apps form Google play:

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Downloaded-Applications-for/You-Upgraded-to-OS-10-2-1-and-want-to-run-Android-Apps-on-Your/td-p/2784957

http://forums.crackberry.com/android-apps-apk-files-f413/snap-download-apps-google-play-directly-your-blackberry-10-2-1-a-874153/index117.html

This is probably unsupported :-)

But Google play seems to see that I purchased "Locus Pro" so I assumed that the rest would work as well.

I have not details about how "snap" works to connect to Google play but it uses my Google account to do it.

I had hoped to be able to remove the advertisement bar from my little BB Z10 screen.

Kind regards,

Jo.

Hello Jo,

I'm searching and searching and I'm unable to find correct answer.

Anyway I still can't understand, how it's possible that previous version of Locus worked for you. And you're not alone - Jaroslav Hulík (http://help.locusmap.eu/responses/cant-download-libraries-311#comment-11249) has same issue.

I'm worried, there is nothing I can do here, to make new Locus works for you. It's required Google Play application, installed and fully working. Without it, it won't work.

Only what I can do, if you miss previous Locus version, I may send you last working version of Locus.

Hello Menion,

I reinstalled the free version from Google play via snap and that one still works.

I don't understand CZ and translation via Google is not very good.

Do you mean you can send an older pro version which should work via snap and Google play?

I don't mind if the older version will support the new OAM maps and the themes like "Elevate" ...

Kind regards,

Jo.

Hello,

only that I can do for you now, is sending "older" 3.0.2 version, where was only problem that mentioned user in second thread - "just from time to time appear screen about some problems with license, but after close, no problem and Locus run ..."

So you may try it, hope it will work for you at least better then latest 3.1.3 version

Hi Menion,

It works. Thank you very much.

You saved my holiday in the Alps which is about to begin.

Walking around with a Nexus 7 is not as comfortable as walking with a BB Z10. :-)

I will survive for now.

I you want to debug in the future what is really happening I'm available for help.

But I assume that within a few months I will only have a "native" android smartphone. And I assume that the BB policy regarding android will evolve as well.

Thanks again,

Kind regards,

Jo.

Perfect, glad to hear it and thanks for offer. It's not necessary anyway, because I know exactly where is a problem. For me, surprise is that it works with this older version. There have to be any problem in Locus, because even this older version should not work :).

Anyway I suggest to pack (install) also Locus Free, just in case, there will be any problem ;).

Enjoy vacation.

Hi Menion,

I have the same problem as Jo. Unfortunatelly your dropbox-Link is not working anymore. Is it possible to get the 3.0.2-apk one again?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I have had the same problem today on my BlackBerry Passport. I tried the free application for use when hiking and Geocaching and was so impressed on my first trip that I decided to buy the pro version. When it started to download the updates in app I get the error as described above

" Additional data required" - "Download" - "Loading" - "Unknown problem - problem with internet connection" and "Action can not be done now. Try again later! Error:1811, 1811

As per the rest of the thread the free version was fine as is the older pro version from the dropbox. Per comments from Locus development above it would appear as if there are checks done using Google Play services during this download. The BlackBerry 10 OS like others such as Amazon does not have a fully Google Play implementation - so this is why its failing. I wonder if there is another way to check the purchase on BlackBerry, Amazon and other non Google Play type OS to allow the app to work.

Good day John,

currently there are no other ways to validate Locus Pro on BB device. We try to publish Locus on Amazon store for more then 3 months, but it's repeatedly refused without clear explanation. Anyway sorry, no know method at least for me.

Would be great if you'd try again to get it to the Amazon App Store... I

mean there are thousands of other app developers who succeeded in

uploading their app, so there must be a way... I am currently using an

Android device but considering switching to BB10. And Locus is one of

the very few apps I don't want to miss ever again after getting used to

it :/

You might also have a look at the Android tools from

BlackBerry which might help you to repackage the Locus Android Map and

publish it directly to the BlackBerry World App Store: http://developer.blackberry.com/android/tools/

Hi. I use Locus Pro on my BB - once I have exported it from my Motorola to .apk file and successfully installed on BB.

From then I do not risk in any upgrades or reinstallation, so I am still at 2.20 version or so.

Could you please provide info which version is the newest to prooven to work on BB (Q10)? And provide this .apk?

Thanks

Hello bodiniusz,

to be true, I do not know which version works correctly. Problems probably started with new system for checking license and downloading extra libraries. Such change started with any of new version 3.X. So I think, that all versions 2.X should works fine.

As I look, latest version of second row is 2.20.2. Anyone is using some newer version?

I've been using 3.0.2, which works very well. Nothing later than that has worked for me.

Please, are there any news on this? I've migrated from Android (where I used Locus Pro) to BB 10; while amazing, the lack of up-to-date off-line maps is significant.

I'd have no problem buying the Pro version for BB again (via Amazon AppStore or BB store).

Hello Vaclav,

we are currently "slowly" working on it. Currently is on Amazon Locus Map Free. Paid version will be available hopefully till end of August. But because of quite complicated communication with Amazon support team, I expect rather end of September.

Thank you for the comment and for the effort. Is there any hope for a Pro version in the BB World, possibly later on the roadmap?

photo

As I wrote, over Amazon Store later ... or you mean directly over some BB Store? No, this is currently not planned.

Well, this came into my mind when you spoke about lengthy communication with Amazon app store staff.

The thing is, Blackberry 10 devices are now distributed with two app store apps:

  1. Blackberry World (see https://developer.blackberry.com/blackberryworld/), which contains native BB apps (developed using Cascades platform) and (converted) Android applications. Blackberry seems pretty eager to get more app developers on board, so they might be communicative and try to help.
  2. Amazon AppStore - available on Amazon and BB 10 devices.

Hello, I found the solution. http:// help.locusmap.eu/topic/cz-locus-pro-na-blackberry

Good to hear it. I am also happy at least free version now works.

A month ago in the middle of my trip to Beijing my old Pro version stopped working and I did not have any of my android devices with myself... could you imagine?

Fortunately the are some off-line-maps apps for BlackBerry which rescued me.

Now I installed the free version, but the ad consumes 1/3 of my screen. I would also pay again if this would be required just to have the app working properly.
