It could be nice to see photos in the logs from other cachers and insert directly own photos during logging

So first part of this idea "See logs from other cachers" will be in next Locus version 2.20.2.

Together with developer of Geoaching4Locus we add this ability. So keep in mind, that cache updated over PocketQueries or generally GPX files, do not have information about images. It's needed to update them over Geoaching4Locus add-on.

Many thanks for the job done.

By the way There are still some problems.

Not always and not all the pictures are visible.

For example, the pictures I uploaded are not visible even if I update more and more time the various caches.

But I am comfortable you are on the right path.

Many thanks,

Gianni

I found the problem.

It seem related to the "update" of the caches.

If I delete and reload again any cache, the pictures are downloaded.

If I simply update an already downloaded cache, it is not working all the time.

So idea implemented.

Since next Locus version will be possible to post also images together with common text logs.

Menion, do you think it would be possible to display the photo's size before loading it? I mean when you are browsing logs in a cache and there's a photo. You can open it and then it downloads in full size. But consider a situation you are in roaming and want to load a photo from the log, but don't know whether it wouldn't be too big and cost too much. It would be good to know in advance.

Hmm I'm worried that there is no such function over HTTP protocol "get dimension of image".

Links to images are loaded over Groundspeak API, but there is no information about sizes, just two URL's - small image (thumbnail), big image (main).

I also think about usability. Use-case: foreign country, limited bandwidth and flatrate. Do I really need to download any images in listing at all? Based on small experience, I think that these images are in 99% cases totally useless, am I right?

Unfortunately I cannot do anything with it now, but I'm trying to find a reason, if such feature is useful or not.
