Tapping the route

When navigating, some functions can be activated by tapping on the route (the line on screen). But aiming this is a hell of a job! In 9 out of 10 attempts my finger misses the track and wrong buttons appear. Very annoying when my husband is driving and I want to activate navigation for return route.

What do I do wrong? Is there work-around?

"..In 9 out of 10 attempts my finger misses the track..."

Don't drink and drive!! :D

Strange - because If you really "miss" -> nothing pops up!

but you wrote: "...wrong buttons appear..."

What button????

btw.

You tried to zoom little bit, before tapping?

Safety first: if I am driving, my partner handles the smartphone. Same if he is driving, then I am handling it. Driver never touches it.

Problem is that placing finger on touch-screen is imprecise no matter what

2nd. My intention is to double-tap on the route (the navigation line, 12 pixels wide). Double-tapping on screen beyond route pops up the default buttons (on top of screen: Option,GPS-on/off etcl on bottom: Snap-to-current-location, Zoom-in, Zoom-out etc). It is not an option to use stylus in car, or on outdoor hikes.

3rd. Yes, tried zooming but zooming in or out has no effect on preset width of track line (set at 12 pixels, not more because it would cover map details). I customarily use Vector Maps downloaded for offline use in the car.

Hello Lex,

please first what you want to do? You have just visible track on map and you want to tap on this track and from bottom menu start navigation on this track?

Anyway, if so:

1. there is no simplier solution for now

2. tap on track react not on line itself, but on small points from which track is created. So please try to tap not on line, but on places, where track change direction. Like on screenshots - hope this helps.

Dear Menion,

Thanks, your answer is some help. I think there is a BUG. Because is track is fresh on screen, it is easy to tap. But when I do some other things on the screen <can't exactly reproduce which ones; try for yourself?> track is suddenly very hard to tap. As if the screen area of sensibility has collapsed to 1 or 2 pixel.

P.S. I use Samsung Trend Lite running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

Hello Lex,

unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce mentioned problem. Anyway in next version will be tapping on track improved. It will react on tap along whole track, not just directly on a points as now.

I still have this problem that initially, it is easy to hit the track and get desired buttons, but later on, after various on- or off-screen actions, track refuses to be hit. So eager to get the announced improvement; and perhaps some work-around too to cater for people with thick, or mis-aimed fingers?

Work around: go to Data/Tracks and tap once on your track. Then you will see the guiding arrow in the bottom menu. With the same choices: Guiding, guiding in reverse and Navigation.

Henk suggestion is possible, but I think it's complication that should not exists. Lex, did you tried new version 3.3.0? Because as I wrote, tap on track was improved so maybe it solved also your issue.

Version 3.3.0 is installed on the smartphone, but had no chance yet to check this tap-the-track problem seriously. Needed the option just once so far; regrettably it worked the same as before, no improvement :-((. I'll post again when I have more info.
