3.6.0: Pick-on-map inaccurate
Solved
Hello!
First of all: Thanx for the new version 3.6.0, great work!
But I'm missing something important about the new pick-on-map: You can't select the point in the crosshairs anymore. Now you have to long-tap with your finger, which is never as accurate as the crosshairs.
Could please bring back a "Pick center" button, that picks the current crosshairs position?
Thx!
Hi Ingo,
well, changing the Pickonmap method for setting a new map center accidentally affected also the trackpoint shift. We'll add the OK button back for picking with the crosshairs ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello,
sorry but I'm not sure about which function we talk. Mainly because nothing has change. Center cross is now smaller, because we more and more thing that it is not needed so much as before, but no function should be missing.
If you mean this "Pick on map" - http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:screens:coordinates_part#get_location_dialog , then in same menu is also function called "Map center" that may serve to what you want.

Well, i do the following:
Tap on a point, tap the pop-up, then tap the crosshairs to the right of the coordinates, and then choose pick-on-map. Then the screen the attachment appears.
There's a crosshairs and zoom in/out buttons. Nothing else. Also menu button does nothing. I might be overlooking something, but then it's not obvious

Hi Ingo
You have to tap on the map and then you have to tap again into "Pick" popup.
I'm also not happy with this new solution but it seems nobody care about this...

Menion said ... "Center cross is now smaller, because we more and more thing that it is not needed so much as before" - after using 3.6 (just a little) I disagree - sometimes with "busy" map it is not possible to see the new small center cross at all. I prefer the larger/ thicker center cross of 3.5. Maybe Menu > Settings > Map objects > Centre cross > (small, large, none)?

hi guys, Menion put me in charge of this as this improvement was a little bit my idea... In the previous version the Pick on map way of re-setting the map center wasn't much new-user friendly - people picked in the map with their fingers as they were told but nothing happened. So we decided to change it - if you want to shift your map's center, touch the map on the desired place and tap to confirm. If you prefer the crosshairs to shift your map center accurately, use the "Screen center" method - shift the crosshairs on the desired point, go to Map manager > map menu > set new map center > screen center and that's it.

Hi Michael!
Thank you, but changing the map center is not the point here. "Pick-on-map" is used in a lot of places, especially for all kinds of points.
Before, this was pretty exact, using the crosshairs and then pressing "OK". Now I have to use my finger, which in low zoom is never exact enough. So I first have zoom in and then try to hit the right spot. Additionally, all map elements are still active in the window. So moving a single trackpoint a little is almost impossible, as my finger will most of the time select another trackpoint because this lies close.
I don't know how to explain it better, but belief me, a before very useful function got almost unsuable for editing.
The only thing we want back is an "OK" button that uses the curretn crosshairs position as new location. And can't imagine that's a difficult thing, is it?

Hi Ingo,
well, changing the Pickonmap method for setting a new map center accidentally affected also the trackpoint shift. We'll add the OK button back for picking with the crosshairs ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.

HI Michael!
Thank you very much. It's always great that with Locus, explaining problems actually helps. With so many other apps, the developers just start to ignore you if they don't get your point in the first place...
Cheers,
Ingo
