Ability to use Text-to-speech also on simple track.

I forget to answer you in specific topic on this theme, sorry ...

So, guide along track was introduced some time ago. This new improvement is just fresh feature. As you wrote, it was introduced in 2.6.2 version so few days ago, and you have to expect that there is place to improve it

How to work with it now:

1. you have to setup correct guiding notification along track. This may be done in settings (more here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu...)

core is to set Tracks > notification settings > settings of sound to Text-to-speech! You can test it by button "Play". When you won`t hear any voice, then you have incorrectly set TTS settings in Android device itself. You have to have selected same TTS language as you have set language in Locus, so for example if you have voice TTS data for English only and Locus is set to French, it won`t work.

2. there are also two possible modes

"Notify when switching to another point"

when this is enabled, Locus will completely simulate navigation along track. So Locus will try to choose correct voice commands that say you when you ride along track

"Notify when too far away from track"

From my point of view, this is very useful use case. When you enable this mode + TTS, Locus will say you how far and under which angle you have to go, to get back to track.

Mainly second mode may be tested home without GPS. Simply just display track, enable "Guide", and move with center cross along track

Thank you for explanation. It`s helped me to understood where is the problem. I have set language of locus to Polish, but in TTS options is English.

I don`t think it`s too bad ... this topic is basic question "how to". So useful for basic searching and quick answer. Rest two topics aren`t same. One is focused on notification when you`re too far from track. Second is on simulition of real voice navigation ...

right - therefore I wrote "similar" not "same" :)

For new users it`s very confusing to understand.

navigate - guiding - guding along a navitrack - guiding with tts - guiding with notification, navigate by turn by turn,...

I don`t like to read anymore in other forums: "Locus? Hm maybe a great tool - but I don`t know, how it works ".

Maybe we do a step after another. But your steps are soo big ;o)

yes I know. Current system is confusing. Way to enable TTS navigation on imported track - notify guiding, enable Text-to-speach for "notify when switch to next point ..." - wtf?? Understand. I`ll think about much more clear solution, because this is usable only for hard-core users that read this post :)

i would also like text to speech for

ten kilometers to go, fivehundred meters to climb.

nine kilometers to go, 350m to climb.

etc...

should work when youre following a track but also when guiding to single point.

i know climbing value requires calculations on the route. just do it :-). or if you are lazy, do destination height - current height. still better than nothing.

voice should play when km/miles moves across an integer boundary and when climbing distance crosses a multiple of 100m or 500ft.
