Problems with directories on Android 6.0.1
Not a Problem
Hi guys, I have a serious problem in Android 6.0,1. First of all I cannot move the Locus Pro App to the SD card. The error message is that there is not enough space left, even when the SD card has 100GB space left and also the internal memory still has 6GB to go. This is the only app on Android 6.0.1 on my device that has this problem.
Further on the SD card cannot be selected as location for offline maps. The SD card is simply not visible in the selection combo, the content of the internal memory is shown.
To be honest - this is quite inferior for such an app. I bought the Pro version and would expect such things to be working.
Hello Robert
locus have to be installed on internal SD ! please read
http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:use_sdcard_on_kitkat
Do you know "default directories" ?
- are you able to set directory for "vector maps" on extSD?
- only offline (raster) maps you cant find on extSD?

Hi Robert,
unfortunately Androids newer than 4.4.2 do not provide full support for apps working on SD card (more about it here http://www.locusmap.eu/does-locus-map-work-on-sd-card-or-not/ or here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:use_sdcard_on_kitkat). Nevertheless, as is mentioned in the user guide, Locus can be stored on SD card in its Android-dedicated directory (extSDcard > Android > Data > Menion.android.locus.pro > Files). It has a few flaws like e.g. you can lose all your maps etc. when uninstalling Locus. Therefore, as Wolfgang has written, it's best to keep Locus installed in your internal memory and place your maps to external SD and define a path to them in Locus (via "Add external maps", see more here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external).
All this may seem too complicated but, alas, there is no other way. Locus Map Pro is not an ordinary app and its complexity and versatility require a complex approach to its installation.

Michal - thanks for your response! Unfortunatey exactly what you are describing

does not work for me. What is described in the user guide is not working. I cannot browse anything on the SD as it cannot be found using the "External maps" function. Under /sdcard I only find the content of the internal memory. Thats the point why I'm complaining. If the Locus Pro app can be moved to SD or not is of minor interest.
I only can have app plus offline maps in the internal memory, which is disappointing.

Hello Robert
please attache a screenshot from
settings/Miscellaneous/Default directories/Set root directory
What device you are using? some of them use only basic file manager, so my recommendation install e.g.
"es file explorer" and attache screenshots from root directory "/" with visible SD/storage folder, internal SD and external SD

Hi Robert,
You wrote Under /sdcard I only find the content of the internal memory. Thats the point why I'm complaining. Android 6.0.1. does not name external SD drive as "SDcard" but with some code name. Have a look into your "/storage" directory. If you use the "external map" feature, Locus just searches your directory structure, nothing else. What directory you choose, it doesn't matter.
